Subway returns to sponsor Edwards; more races in 2012: Subway restaurant chain, the world’s largest restaurant chain, has expanded its successful partnership with Carl Edwards and Roush Fenway Racing from the primary sponsor of the #99 Ford in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for three races in 2011 to six races starting in 2012. The multi-year partnership also includes four additional races as a major associate sponsor and becoming the Official Training Restaurant of Carl Edwards and Roush Fenway Racing. “Carl has been a fan of our brand and our sweet onion chicken teriyaki sandwich for a long time,” said Tony Pace, Sr. Vice President, Global Chief Marketing Officer at Subway Franchisee Advertising Fund. “He and Roush Fenway Racing are great partners and proven winners. We look forward to Carl chasing his goal of a championship in 2012.” The first race this year for the #99 Subway Ford will be March 4 in the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix; returning to the track March 25, at Auto Club Speedway; June 3, Dover; July 7, Daytona; Sept. 2, Atlanta; and Oct. 7, at Talladega. “The Subway restaurant brand and their Subway Fresh Fit menu provides me with the opportunity to promote my healthy, active lifestyle,” stated Edwards. “Subway sandwiches are the best tasting, most healthy food option that I can get on-the-go when I’m traveling,” continued Edwards. Edwards will again be featured in the Subway restaurant advertising campaigns. Special scheme for Menard at Daytona: Entering their ninth season with Richard Childress Racing driver Paul Menard, Peak Performance announced the #27 Chevy will sport an exciting and electric look during 2012 Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway. Expanding on their hood sponsorship of the Menards Chevrolet, PEAK has redesigned the #27 Impala to be completely adorned with the signature “PEAK blue” and “Menards yellow” as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series kicks off the season with the 54th running of the “Great American Race” on February 26. The special paint scheme will also be showcased in the Budweiser Shootout on February 18 and the Duel 150 qualifying race on February 23. PEAK first partnered with the 2011 Brickyard 400 champion in 2004, but their relationship with Menards dates back to the home improvement chain’s IndyCar days. Banana Boat to sponsor McMurray: Chip Ganassi Racing Teams (CGRT) announced that Banana Boat sun care will take on the sun and the speedway for a new partnership. Banana Boat sun care will sponsor the #1 Chevy of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates and 2010 Daytona 500 winner Jamie McMurray during the 2012 season. As part of the partnership, Banana Boat sun care will host fan experiences trackside at key races including the Daytona 500, Talladega Superspeedway and others. The sunscreen brand will provide fans with a break from the sun, offering quick relief and sun protection in its CoolZone Pit Stop. Here, fans will have the opportunity to receive a “cool-over” with the new sunscreen, play games and receive fun giveaway items.(EGR), the sposnorship is supposedly for one race, at Pocono in June, see images of the scheme on the #1 Team Schemes page.(1-24-2012)
Liftmaster to sponsor McMurray at NHMS: Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates and LiftMaster, the number one brand of professionally installed garage doors, announced that LiftMaster will be the primary sponsor on the #1 Chevy driven by Jamie McMurray at the Sept. 23 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Additionally, Earnhardt Ganassi Racing and LiftMaster also revealed the paint scheme that will adorn the #1 LiftMaster Chevy for that race (EGR), see images of the scheme on the #1 Team Schemes page.(1-24-2012)
Belkin to sponsor McMurray at Martinsville: Belkin entered the world of motorsports and announced a partnership with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, the team behind Jamie McMurray's # 1 Sprint Cup Series Chevy. Belkin's new logo and brand identity will adorn the #1 car and team assets for the duration of the 2012 NASCAR season, but take center stage as the primary sponsor during the race at Martinsville, Virginia on April 1. When Die-Cast Makes a Difference: Last year, many collectors and partners joined Lionel NASCAR Collectables in helping support The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and their commitment to wounded military heroes. Because of collectors and partners, Lionel NASCAR Collectables was able to raise $200,000 for the construction of a new "smart" home for United States Marine Corporal Todd Nicely. Todd lost both his arms and his legs when he stepped on a mine in Afghanistan. More info and a video at the LNC Pit Box.

AMP returns to #88 at Martinsville: #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr. is scheduled to run a green AMP Energy paint scheme on the #88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy at Martinsville in April and supposedly run a slightly different version for three races later in the season. AMP Energy has been the primary sponsor for the #88 since Earnhardt Jr. started driving the car. In 2012, the #88's primary sponsors will be Diet Mountain Dew and the Army National Guard. Top 10 diecast of 2011: Jeff Gordon's #24 AARP/Drive to End Hunger Chevy and Kevin Harvick's #29 Budweiser Chevy were the best-selling 1:24 scale die-cast cars of 2011, according to a top 10 list released by Lionel NASCAR Collectables. However in a surprise showing, Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne clinched the third sport as his #21 Motorcraft Daytona 500 Win Ford made the cut. While Gordon's AARP Chevy was the best-selling die-cast car, Dale Earnhardt Jr. tops the list as the driver garnering the most die-cast sales in 2011. Earnhardt cars claimed spots four, seven and nine. Another Earnhardt also made the list of heavy hitters. Dale Earnhardt's #96 Cardinal Tractor Ford was introduced in July as the first release in the company's NASCAR Classics line - a series of historical die-cast which have never before been made. The result? Collectors loved the #96 car so much; it shot to the sixth spot on the list of 2011 best-sellers. The Top 10 Die-Cast Cars of 2011 are listed below.

New look for #24 DuPont scheme: DuPont released some inages of the new look for Jeff Gordon in the #24 DuPont Chevy for 2012, with a 20 Year Logo commemorating DuPont, Jeff Gordon and Hendrick Motorsports partnership. The #24 Drive to End Hunger Chevy is a little different looking in 2012 also. See images of the schemes on the #24 Team Schemes page.(12-8-2011)
New look for the Aaron's car: The #55, which has run the #00 for many years with Michael Waltrip Racing, will have a different look in 2012. In the 25 races the Mark Martin is scheduled to driver the car will be blue sides and white roof/hood and in the 5-7 races that Michael Waltrip is scheduled to run the car it will have a blue rood/hood and white sides. No word if the scheme changes when the other driver(s) run the car in the remaining races that Martin or Waltrip do not run. See images of the schemes on the #55 Team Schemes page.(12-8-2011)
Farmers 2012 car unveiled: the #5 Farmers Insurance Chevy that Kasey Kahne will drive for Hendrick Motorsports in the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series was unveiled. Kahne designed the paint scheme himself. “I hope you guys like my 2012 Farmers paint scheme,” Kahne said. “It was cool to be a part of the process, and I appreciate Farmers letting me have some input on the car design.”
“The new design is a winner,” said Paul Patsis, president of Enterprise Marketing for Farmers Insurance. “We are so pleased Kasey took such an active role in the redesign, and we think it represents our partnership well: it’s dynamic, it’s fresh and full of energy.”(HMS)(8-26-2011)
