Hornaday wins Las Vegas pole: Ron Hornaday Jr., driving the #2-Champion Chevrolet for Kevin Harvick Inc., was the fastest qualifier with a top speed of 176.056 mph to win the Keystone Light Pole for the Smith's 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This is Hornaday's 1st pole this season, 27th career pole overall. Rounding out the top ten were; #3-Austin Dillon, #29-Parker Kligerman, #13-Johnny Sauter, #88-Matt Crafton, #31-James Buescher, #8-Nelson Piquet Jr., #18-Brian Ickler, #4-Ricky Carmichael, #7-Miguel Paludo.
