NEXT EVENT: August 24, 2011 - 14th Annual O'Reilly 200, Bristol Motor Speedway, Bristol, TN (106.6 Miles) (200 Laps)
NOTE: The above figures are based upon team winnings and include racing purse and cash contingency awards by participating manufacturers.(NASCAR Statistics)(8/22/2011)
Harvick wins at Michigan: A late-race dive to the bottom saw #2-Kevin Harvick take the lead, hold on through two more restarts, to win the VFW 200 at Michigan International Speedway. This is his second victory this season; his eleventh overall. Harvick became the first driver to win in all three major NASCAR series events at MIS with victories in the Truck, Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series. With just 15 to go, #13-Johnny Sauter got loose and hit the inside wall. The team managed to make sufficient repairs to the truck to finish in 13th position and retake the points lead. Bad day for many teams -- the top three trucks on a lap 12 restart were all involved in a melee when #29-Parker Kligerman got loose, turning Mark Martin; and collecting #3-Austin Dillon in the process. Both Kligerman and Dillon sustained signifcant damage. #18-Kyle Busch had a DNF after picking up debris on the track and punching a hole in the radiator. He finished 25th. On the final lap #8-Nelson Piquet Jr. while running fourth, got loose and ended up hitting the inside wall. He finished 16th. Rounding out the top ten were; #17-Timothy Peters, #7-Miguel Paludo, #31-James Buescher, #81-David Starr, #23-Jason White, #33-Ron Hornaday, #62-Brendan Gaughan, #51-Colin Braun, #60-Cole Whitt. There were 13 lead changes among 10 drivers with 7 caution flags for 22 laps.(8-20-2011)
