NEXT EVENT: February 25, 2011 - 7th Annual Lucas Oil 150, Phoenix International Raceway, Avondale, AZ (150 Miles) (150 Laps)
NOTE: The above figures are based upon team winnings and include racing purse and cash contingency awards by participating manufacturers.(NASCAR Statistics) (2/21/2011)
Waltrip wins at Daytona: Ten years after his first Cup victory at Daytona, Michael Waltrip picks up his first truck series win in the NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway driving VAR's #15-NASCAR Race View/Wounded Warrior Project Toyota. On a green-white-checker restart, Waltrip let Sadler pull down to the inside to take the lead. On the final lap, Waltrip laid all over the back of Sadler and coming off four was able to get to the outside to take the checkered flag. #2-Elliott Sadler finished second. Rounding out the top ten were; #92-Clay Rogers, #7-Miguel Paludo, #18-Kyle Busch, #10-Jennifer Jo Cobb, #1-Jeffrey Earnhardt, #4-Ricky Carmichael, #31-James Buescher, #88-Matt Crafton. There were about five trucks left with no damage following two major accidents with less than 25 laps remaining. The first occurred when #5-Travis Kvapil had a tire go down, got up into the wall, causing several trucks to get caught up in the wreck. The second "big one" happened with just 4 laps remaining. The #32 in the center lane was loose and turned, with many of the remaining trucks sustaining major damage. There were 8 lead changes among 7 drivers, with 6 caution flags for 24 laps. Note: At the end of the race, half of the rear spoiler had fallen down on Waltrip's #15 truck. NASCAR has taken the spoiler and will continue to review possibly through early next week.
