Notes: Teams in both NASCAR series in action at Bristol this weekend will run the same tire codes . . . this is the first time Sprint Cup teams will run either of these two tire codes at Bristol, though they did run this combination of left- and right-side tires at Indianapolis last season . . . Cup teams also ran this left-side tire code at Pocono in 2009 . . . teams in the Nationwide Series ran this left-side code at both Gateway and Iowa last year, and this right-side code at Bristol last August . . . this tire set-up was tested at Bristol last July, and it was found to better rubber in the track surface with a more consistent level of grip . . . the Cup car participating in that test was that of Richard Childress Racing with driver Casey Mears . . .
unlike on other NASCAR ovals one mile or less in length, where no inner liners are run, teams will run liners in their right-side tires only at Bristol . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
