    #19-Edwards, who starts 3rd took the 22nd pit stall, the last stall on frontstretch pitroad.

    To see where the drivers/teams pit stall is, see the pit selection chart on Jayski.com's Pit Stall Selection chart.(8-22-2015)

  • Bristol Pit Rules: Bristol Motor Speedway operates under a plan where one-pit road will be used during pit stops under caution. Currently, Bristol remains the only track in the Sprint Cup Series that utilizes two pit roads with 22 pit stalls on the front stretch and 21 on the backstretch. Teams that pit on the backstretch used to be at a competitive disadvantage. Since the spring 2002 race at Bristol, teams will enter pit road in Turn 2 (the current backstretch pit entrance) drive around down the backstretch and around Turns 3 and 4 and exit in Turn 1. Under green-flag conditions teams will enter and exit pit road under the current two-pit-road scheme.

  • Highlights of NASCAR's changes on pit road in 2015:
    " Number of officials on pit road during race reduced from 43 to 10.
    " 45 HD cameras will be mounted on the grandstand side of each track and directed toward pit road to monitor pit stops and officials call or clear penalties.
    " Every camera looks at two pit stalls and the cameras record 100 percent of the race.
    " Video feeds from cameras are fed to a production truck in the TV compound where eight NASCAR officials monitor stops for violations.
    " Pit road speeding penalties will still be called from race control based on scoring loops.
    " Pit stalls are laser measured
    " Missing Lug Nuts are no longer a penalty.
    " Fueling can start once car is stopped.
    " Fueling can continue until car leaves pit stall.

  • How to Calculate Track Speeds: use the formula Speed = Distance divided by Time. Distance is Track Length, and Lap Time into Hours. Once hour is 3600 seconds, so the calculation for a 48 second lap at Daytona(2.5 miles) would be: Speed = 2.5 x (3600/48), = 2.5 x 75 = 187.500mph. For a 19 second lap at Bristol(.533 miles): Speed = .533 x (3600/19), = .533 x 189.474 = a speed of 100.990mph

CHASSIS SELECTIONS

  • No More Chassis Selections: Recently many team stopped posting chassis selections on race previews.
    This leaves only a handful of teams reporting/posting chassis selections.
    So, will no longer post Chassis Selections as most are not available

TIRE NOTES & FACTS

  • Tire: Goodyear Eagle Speedway Radials

  • Set limits:
    Sprint Cup: 4 sets for practice/qualifying and 10 sets for the race;
    Xfinity: 6 sets for the event;
    Camping World Truck: 6 sets for the event

  • Tire Codes:
    Left-side -- D-4416; Right-side -- D-4526

  • Tire Circumference:
    Left-side -- 87.64 in. (2,226 mm);
    Right-side -- 88.43 in. (2,246 mm)

  • Minimum Recommended Inflation:
    Left Front -- 20 psi; Left Rear -- 18 psi;
    Right Front -- 41 psi; Right Rear -- 38 psi

  • Notes: Teams in the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series will run the same Goodyear tire codes at Bristol this week . . . this is the same combination of left- and right-side tires that Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series teams ran at Bristol this April and teams in all three national series ran here last August . . . Bristol is the only track at which NASCAR teams are scheduled to run either of these two tire codes . . . unlike on most NASCAR ovals one mile or less in length, on which teams generally do not run inner liners in their tires, teams are required to run liners in their right-side tires only at Bristol . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
