  • Kansas adds restart zone lines: Kansas Speedway has added lines to mark the restart zone for this weekend's Xfinity and Sprint Cup races, but the track has done it differently than what Charlotte Motor Speedway did last week. Kansas Speedway had the lines painted only on the apron - not on the track as Charlotte did. One thing Kansas Speedway has done is paint a small portion of the grass alongside the restart zone in yellow to make the zone easier for fans in the stands to see. The track also painted the outside wall in the restart zone yellow. The restart zone is 180 feet.(NBC Sports)(10-16-2015)

  • Pit Stall Selections: The selections of pit stalls for the Hollywood Casino 400 Sprint Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway have been made.

    #18-Busch, who starts 3rd took the 8th pit stall, with an opening in front of it.
    The 43rd and final pit stall was taken by #24-Gordon, who starts 6th.

  • Highlights of NASCAR's changes on pit road in 2015:
    " Number of officials on pit road during race reduced from 43 to 10.
    " 45 HD cameras will be mounted on the grandstand side of each track and directed toward pit road to monitor pit stops and officials call or clear penalties.
    " Every camera looks at two pit stalls and the cameras record 100 percent of the race.
    " Video feeds from cameras are fed to a production truck in the TV compound where eight NASCAR officials monitor stops for violations.
    " Pit road speeding penalties will still be called from race control based on scoring loops.
    " Pit stalls are laser measured
    " Missing Lug Nuts are no longer a penalty.
    " Fueling can start once car is stopped.
    " Fueling can continue until car leaves pit stall.

  • How to Calculate Track Speeds: use the formula Speed = Distance divided by Time. Distance is Track Length, and Lap Time into Hours. Once hour is 3600 seconds, so the calculation for a 48 second lap at Daytona(2.5 miles) would be: Speed = 2.5 x (3600/48), = 2.5 x 75 = 187.500mph. For a 19 second lap at Bristol(.533 miles): Speed = .533 x (3600/19), = .533 x 189.474 = a speed of 100.990mph

CHASSIS SELECTIONS

    This leaves only a handful of teams reporting/posting chassis selections.
    So, will no longer post Chassis Selections as most are not available

TIRE NOTES & FACTS

  • Tire: Goodyear Eagle Speedway Radials

  • Set limits:
    Sprint Cup: 5 sets for practice/qualifying and 10 sets for the race;
    Xfinity: 7 sets for the event

  • Tire Codes:
    Left-side -- D-4604; Right-side -- D-4630

  • Tire Circumference:
    Left-side -- 87.60 in. (2,225 mm);
    Right-side -- 88.39 in. (2,245 mm)

  • Minimum Recommended Inflation:
    Left Front -- 30 psi; Left Rear -- 30 psi;
    Right Front -- 54 psi; Right Rear -- 50 psi

  • Notes: Teams in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series will run the same tire set-up at Kansas this weekend . . . this is the same combination of left- and right-side tires Sprint Cup and Camping World Truck Series teams ran at this track in May . . . all NASCAR teams have run this left-side tire code (D-4604) at Kansas since 2014 . . . Kansas is the only track at which Sprint Cup teams run this left-side tire, though they have run this right-side tire (D-4630) at Las Vegas, Talladega and Michigan this season . . . this is the first time Xfinity teams have run this right-side code (D-4630) at Kansas . . . compared to what they ran at this track last year, this right-side tire features a construction change that brings it into line with what is run at other speedways . . . Xfinity teams ran this same tire set-up at Michigan in June . . . they have also run this right-side tire at Las Vegas and Talladega this season . . . this tire set-up was re-confirmed at a Goodyear tire test at Kansas on September 14-15 . . . drivers participating in that test were Aric Almirola, Jimmie Johnson, Martin Truex Jr. and J.J. Yeley . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Kansas . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
