Sunday - A chance of showers, mainly between 7am and 4pm, then a chance of rain after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 64. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
    Monday's forecast looks worse:
Monday - Rain. High near 57. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
    According to NASCAR_WXMAN's forecast:
For Sunday, it's not a matter of if it rains but when will it rain. That "when" is key to getting a race complete or waiting out a couple of days of soggy weather across southern Virginia. I am giving the odds of racing on Sunday around 60 percent. The odds of a complete race to be around 50 to 55 percent. A little better than half.
Sunset at Martinsville is at 5:23pm/et on Sunday. The track does not have lights.

  • How to Calculate Track Speeds: use the formula Speed = Distance divided by Time. Distance is Track Length, and Lap Time into Hours. Once hour is 3600 seconds, so the calculation for a 48 second lap at Daytona(2.5 miles) would be: Speed = 2.5 x (3600/48), = 2.5 x 75 = 187.500mph. For a 19 second lap at Bristol(.533 miles): Speed = .533 x (3600/19), = .533 x 189.474 = a speed of 100.990mph

Notes: Teams in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Camping World Truck Series will run the same Goodyear tire codes at Martinsville this weekend . . . this is the same combination of left- and right-side tires that these teams have run at this track since last October . . . this left-side tire code has been run at this track since April 2013 . . . Martinsville is the only track where NASCAR teams are scheduled to run either of these two tire codes . . . as on most NASCAR ovals one mile or less in length, teams will not run inner liners in their tires at Martinsville.
