2015 PAINT SCHEME NEWS

  • Lionel Racing announce best-selling diecast of 2015: #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr. and #24-Jeff Gordon didn't just have the top two die-cast cars of the year, they dominated the list of best-selling cars which was unveiled today by Lionel Racing - The Official Die-Cast of NASCAR. "Since we began publishing our top 10 list in 2011, we haven't seen such a dominant performance by two drivers as we have this year," said Howard Hitchcock, President of Lionel Racing. "Their sales numbers are a testament both to their impact on the sport and their ability to connect with the most passionate NASCAR fans - our collectors - in a big way." Earnhardt's new primary paint scheme drove sales of his #88 Nationwide Insurance die-cast to the top spot, while Gordon's wildly popular throwback, the #24 Axalta Rainbow Chevy, was the company's second biggest seller. "We knew when the Axalta Rainbow car was first announced that this would be one of the most important die-cast of the year to longtime fans of the sport," Hitchcock said. "I think we were just as thrilled as Gordon's fans were to see this iconic paint scheme on track in his final year of competition." The only driver to make the Lionel Racing list that wasn't named Earnhardt or Gordon was Chase Elliott. Elliott's #25 NAPA Chevy die-cast ranked a solid sixth. "Elliott's popularity with NASCAR fans is incredibly impressive when you consider he has competed in the sport for just two years," Hitchcock said. "That fan appeal is directly reflected in his sales numbers - his Cup debut car outsold several of our historically best-selling drivers." The 2015 Top 10 list is below:
Dale Earnhardt Jr. #88 Nationwide Insurance Chevy
Jeff Gordon. #24 Axalta Rainbow Chevy
Dale Earnhardt Jr. #88 Mountain Dew/Dewshine Chevy
Dale Earnhardt Jr. #88 Nationwide Insurance/Talladega Win Chevy
    Jeff Gordon #24 3M Chevy
    Chase Elliott #25 NAPA Chevy
    Jeff Gordon #24 Axalta/Homestead Chevy
Dale Earnhardt Jr. #88 Nationwide Insurance/Stars and Stripes Daytona Win Chevy

  • Dale Earnhardt's Black GM Goodwrench Chevrolet Crowned "Lord of the Schemes": In the beginning, there were 64 paint schemes. Fourteen weeks and six rounds later, only one remains. And it's one of the most iconic paint schemes in NASCAR history. Dale Earnhardt's black GM Goodwrench Chevrolet (60.4% of the votes) beat out Earnhardt's yellow and blue Wrangler Chevrolet (39.6%) in the championship round of Lionel Racing's "Lord of the Schemes" bracket challenge. The challenge began on Wednesday, August 19 - on the heels of the announcement that Jeff Gordon would be bringing back his popular rainbow-designed car at Bristol Motor Speedway - and ended on Wednesday, November 18. More than 138,000 votes were received throughout the campaign's run. Lionel Racing, The Official Die-Cast of NASCAR, hosted the bracket challenge on its Facebook page. Earnhardt first slipped into the seat of the black #3 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet in the 1988 season opener at Daytona International Speedway. Although he had already won 31 races and claimed three of his seven titles by this point, some of his best racing still lay ahead. He piloted the car for the next 13 seasons before passing away after sustaining injuries in a last-lap accident in the 2001 Daytona 500. During this span, he won four championships (1990-91, 1993-94) and celebrated in Victory Lane 45 times, including his memorable 1998 DAYTONA 500 victory. At the conclusion of the race, as Earnhardt steered his car to Victory Lane, crew members from every team lined pit road to congratulate the already legendary driver on winning the "Great American Race" after 20 attempts. Before facing the #3 Wrangler Chevrolet in the final round, the winning paint scheme faced an admirable lineup of contenders. In the first round, the #3 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet went up against Tony Stewart's #20 The Home Depot/It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown Pontiac. It was then pitted against Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s #8 Budweiser/Intimidator Chevrolet in the second round. In the third round, the black GM Goodwrench paint scheme battled Davey Allison's #28 Havoline Ford followed by a match-up with Petty's #43 STP Pontiac. In the semifinals, the winning paint scheme squared off against another of Earnhardt's paint schemes - the #3 Goodwrench/Silver Select Chevrolet - before the championship round.(Lionel Racing)(11-20-2015)

  • Teammates to pay tribute at Homestead with 'Jeff Gordon yellow' numbers: Sunday will mark a momentous occasion in the history of Hendrick Motorsports and NASCAR as a whole. Jeff Gordon will make his final start behind the wheel of the #24 Chevy. To honor the event, Axalta has provided a special paint scheme for Gordon to drive as he attempts to win a fifth NASCAR Cup Series championship in the final race of his final full-time season. But the remaining three Hendrick Motorsports cars will also celebrate the close of an iconic career. In a collaboration Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick announced Tuesday morning on Twitter, Gordon's teammates and their partners worked together to run the familiar "Jeff Gordon yellow" for the car numbers on the #5, #48 and #88 Chevy as well. See the behind-the-scenes gallery of the application of the yellow numbers inside the race shops.(Hendrick Motorsports) and see images of the four cars on Jayski.com's:

Additionally, Lowe's is honored to thank all the men and women who have served our nation in the military with a 10 percent discount this Veterans Day weekend (HMS), see images of the car on the #48 Team Schemes page.(11-13-2015)

  • Cargill / Sam's Club featured on the #17 at Phoenix: The #17 Cargill Beef Ford will feature a special Sam's Club paint scheme this weekend at Phoenix. Cargill Beef first featured a Sam's Club scheme in 2011 during Ricky Stenhouse Jr.'s first championship season in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. In 2012, Stenhouse drove the Cargill Beef/Sam's Club Ford to victory lane in Kansas for his sixth win en route to his second XFINITY Series title. "We love running the Sam's Club paint scheme for Cargill Beef because it's such a recognizable logo and we've had a great history with both partners on our cars," said Stenhouse. "This year the car has a little different look than we've run in the past with a little more white on it so I think the fans will definitely notice the #17 in Phoenix." Bad Boy pioneered the category of electrically powered 4x4 vehicles, ideal for hunting and outdoor recreation due to their silent, odorless operation and environmentally friendly, emissions-free drivetrains. • Final GoDaddy special scheme for Danica: Nearly nine years ago, GoDaddy, now the world's largest technology provider dedicated to small businesses, partnered with Danica Patrick, a promising star who was heating up the track in the IndyCar Series. That relationship grew over the years and continued as the driver transitioned from open-wheel cars to the stock-car ranks of NASCAR. As the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series enters the penultimate race of the 2015 season and Patrick's longtime sponsor plans to exit the sport at the conclusion of the year, her #10 GoDaddy Chevy for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) will feature a special paint scheme at both Phoenix and Homestead. The paint scheme celebrates the company's long bond with Patrick by featuring memorable photos from their nine-year partnership, including her history-making pole award for the 2013 Daytona 500. #10 GoDaddy Chevy In addition, the #10 GoDaddy Chevrolet also features the hashtag #GoingTheDistance to reference the fact that just as Patrick and the #10 team "go the distance" on the track, GoDaddy and its employees "go the distance" for customers. • SlimFast & Walmart return to the #9 at Dover: Sam Hornish Jr. and the #9 Ford team welcome SlimFast and Walmart back to the #9 Ford Fusion for this weekend's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway. Hornish and the team are looking to break their streak of bad luck with a strong finish at the one-mile, concrete oval. Hornish will make his ninth Sprint Cup Series start at the Monster Mile this weekend. He earned his best finish of 13th in the series at the one-mile track in the spring of 2013. In five XFINITY Series starts, Hornish has started the race from the second position twice and earned his best finish of seventh in the spring of 2013. "We're happy to have SlimFast and Walmart with us again in Dover. They were on our car a few weeks ago in Chicago, we had a really good car, but had some bad luck and wasn't able to get a good finish for them. This weekend will give us a chance to make up for it and get a strong finish." (Richard Petty Motorsports), see an image of the car on the #9 team paint schemes page.(9-30-2015)

  • SKF sponsoring Blaney for three races: The #21 Wood Brothers Ford Fusion, with Ryan Blaney at the wheel, will hit the track at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend with a new look representing technical partner SKF, the leading global supplier of friction-reducing solutions for industrial and transportation applications. The New Hampshire 301 will be SKF's first of three appearances on the iconic #21 Fusion this season, while Blaney will be returning to a familiar partner, one that has special meaning to him. Last year, SKF partnered with Blaney as he made his first-ever Sprint Cup start at Kansas Speedway, where he finished 27th. SKF returned later that season to Blaney's #12 Ford Fusion at Talladega where he started 4th, led 15 laps and finished 22nd.
Ryan's car debuts a theme which SKF supports through it participation in the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM.org). "Manufacturing Makes America Strong" reinforces the importance of modern industry to providing good-paying, high skill jobs. It also helps promote this year's MFGDAY.com in which participating plants open their doors on October 3rd to highlight their high-tech career opportunities.

  • Wood Bothers #21 picks up Snap-On Tools as 2-race sponsor: Two icons in their respective fields are teaming up to go Sprint Cup racing this weekend in the Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway and in the Bojangles Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway on Labor Day weekend. Snap-on Tools will sponsor the Wood Brothers' #21 Ford Fusion, driven by Ryan Blaney, in both races. Both Snap-on and the Wood Brothers have long histories, with Snap-on dating back to 1920 and the Woods racing team to 1950, and both have made great contributions to their fields. Many a modern-day NASCAR fan doesn't realize that the choreographed pit stops seen today were developed in large part by the Wood Brothers years ago. Similarly, many technicians today may not know that tools like interchangeable sockets turned by a ratchet were pioneered and marketed by Snap-on from its beginning nearly 100 years ago. "I'm really excited to be associated with a long-time company like Snap-on," Wood said. "We have a lot in common with them." Eddie Wood said his family's connection with Snap-on tools predates the formation of the race team. "There are three generations of Woods that have been mechanics," he said. "My grandfather, J. Walter Wood, was a mechanic at a Ford dealership, and I'm sure he used Snap-on tools."
The Woods' Snap-on tools likely will come in handy this weekend at Kentucky as Sprint Cup teams will be running a new aero package designed to improve the racing on intermediate-length tracks like Kentucky Speedway. An open test date is set for Wednesday, and the #21 will likely see lots of tuning before the green flag drops Saturday night. "It's a real privilege to be representing a company like Snap-on that has such a rich heritage of quality and craftsmanship," Wood said. "We'll do our best to do a good job for them."(Wood Brothers Racing), see images of the scheme on the #21 Team Schemes page.(7-6-2015)

Cheerios has been a family favorite of the Dillon and Childress families for years. Its wholesome goodness is perfect for toddlers to adults and everyone in between. • Shaw's to sponsor the #9 Ford at NHMS: Shaw's will make its second appearance of the season at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend with Sam Hornish Jr. and the #9 team. Earlier this year, Hornish finished 29th in the Shaw's Ford at the one-track after engine issues early in the race. Despite the 29th-place finish, Hornish was confident in the handling of the #9 Ford at Loudon and looks for a strong finish in the Shaw's Ford this weekend. Hornish will make his 10th Sprint Cup Series start at Loudon this weekend. He has scored two Top-10 finishes at the mile track and earned his best finish of eighth in the 2009 summer race. Hornish also has two starts in the XFINITY Series with one Top-Five and two Top-10 finishes for an average finish of 5.5.(RPM)

  • Gilliland, Love's Travel Stops to Host 7-Year-Old Miracle Child at Chicago: A Chicago-area miracle child will get a taste of life as a NASCAR driver on Sept. 20 at Chicagoland Speedway, when David Gilliland and Love's Travel Stops host the seven-year-old boy who overcame a rare, fatal liver disease. Jack Benjamin will sport a replica Love's driver's suit and accompany Gilliland throughout his race day schedule. The youngster also created artwork that will be featured on the hood of the #38 Love's Travel Stops Ford and on Gilliland's helmet. At just two months old, Jack was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a rare liver disease for which there was no cure. Two days after the diagnosis, the Evanston, Ill., boy had his first surgery at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Three months later, he underwent a liver transplant - the beginning of his "miracle" road to recovery. Today, Jack is an active little boy who likes to dance, ride his bike and swim, thanks to the treatment received at Lurie Children's. The miniature "driver for a day" celebration will top off Love's Travel Stops' and Gilliland's week of promoting Love's annual fundraising campaign for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, a non-profit organization that raises funds for 170 children's hospitals across North America. Gilliland will also visit Lurie Children's on Sept. 17 for a meet-and-greet with patients and a tour of the facility. The month of September marks the 17th year that Love's Travel Stops has run a fundraising effort for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Cashiers at more than 350 Love's locations nationwide are asking customers to buy paper balloons for $1, $5 or $20 to benefit local CMN Hospitals.(Front Row Motorsports), see an image of the car on the #38 team paint schemes page.(9-15-2015)

Whether you call a cab, call a friend or arrange for a designated driver, make a plan to make it home every time you go out. Do whatever it takes to get home safely. The responsibility-themed paint scheme will promote Budweiser's Make a Plan to Make it Home campaign, which encourages customers to plan ahead to get home safely as part of Anheuser-Busch InBev's Global Be(er) Responsible Day on Friday, Sept. 18 - a day dedicated to promoting alcohol responsibility. On Sept. 18, Anheuser-Busch InBev thousands of employees and distributors will visit retailers and consumers to remind them of the importance of making a plan to make it home. In the past three decades, Anheuser-Busch and its wholesalers have invested more than $1 billion in national advertising campaigns and local programs to promote responsible drinking and prevent underage drinking and drunk driving. Harvick and the #4 team are hoping to aid in promoting the Make a Plan to Make it Home message Saturday night as they clinch their bid to defend their 2014 Sprint Cup title.(SHR), see images of the car/scheme on the #4 Team Schemes page.(9-11-2015)

  • Bowyer to run Buddy Baker scheme at Darlington: #15-Clint Bowyer will run a tribute paint scheme for Buddy Baker in the Bojangles' Southern 500 at Darlington race. The paint scheme is an "old school" style paint scheme and Bowyer wanted to keep it authentic. Watch it get hand painted in just over 60 seconds at Michael Waltrip Racing's Facebook page.(8-25-2015)

  • Earnhardt Jr. to run Valvoline throwback scheme at Darlington: #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr. may be driving the Valvoline car on Sept. 6, 2015, at Darlington Raceway, but thanks to a "throwback" paint scheme, his fans will likely feel as if they're watching a race more in line with his father's early career and track opponents. #88 Valvoline Chevy Earnhardt and Valvoline's presence on the Darlington track at the upcoming NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event will pay homage to the brand's storied history in motor sports with an early-1980s look inspired by Valvoline cars driven by some of the era's racing icons, including Cale Yarborough, Ron Bouchard, Neil Bonnett and Buddy Baker. "I love the history of the sport and really enjoy paint schemes from the past," said Earnhardt, NASCAR's 12-time most popular driver. "To be able to run a car inspired by many of my racing idols is pretty special. Valvoline has been involved in NASCAR for a long time, and it's awesome they wanted to do a program like this at Darlington."
The one-race sponsorship of Earnhardt's #88 Chevy marks an elevated partnership between Hendrick Motorsports and Valvoline, which in September 2013 announced a four-year agreement that kicked off last season. The new sponsorship at Darlington represents Valvoline's first primary paint scheme since that time. "As Valvoline approaches its 150th anniversary, we are proud to support Hendrick Motorsports and Dale Earnhardt Jr. at the upcoming 'throwback' Southern 500 by paying tribute to the legendary drivers who have contributed to the legacy of Valvoline racing," said Sam Mitchell, Valvoline president. "We look forward to being part of yet another exciting competition at Darlington for the history books."
"I remember our first Southern 500 win back in 1986," said Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick, whose teams have earned a record 14 Sprint Cup victories at Darlington. "It was an incredible era that featured some amazingly talented drivers, and it's exciting to see Valvoline recognize them with this paint scheme. We're extremely proud of our partnership and delighted to see it grow with this program."
In addition to the 1980s-inspired red and blue paint scheme, Earnhardt's fire suit will pay homage to this specific era of racing history. The two-time Daytona 500 winner helped design Valvoline's "throwback" look after reviewing the various styles of legacy cars and drivers. He also worked alongside performance and protective footwear and apparel designer Alpinestars to develop a suit that would take NASCAR fans back 30-plus years. The Darlington paint scheme also sets the tone for Valvoline: LEGACY, a program ahead of the brand's 150th anniversary celebration in 2016 designed specifically to tell the story of its motor sports history, commitment to excellence and dedication to developing cutting-edge motor oil. As part of Valvoline: LEGACY, NASCAR fans will soon have access to a special video series, which will be available via the Valvoline YouTube channel, in advance of the Sunday, Sept. 6 race. These LEGACY videos will feature Earnhardt, as well as Yarborough (1982 Darlington winner, NASCAR Hall of Famer and past Valvoline driver) and Ray Evernham (three-time Sprint Cup Series champion crew chief, television broadcaster and NASCAR Hall of Fame nominee). Additionally, a limited-edition die cast replica of Earnhardt's No. 88 Valvoline Chevrolet SS will be available in participating Wal-Mart stores across the United States beginning on Aug. 31.(Hendrick Motorsports / Valvoline PR), see images of the car on Jayski.com's #88 Team Schemes page.(8-24-2015)

  • Ragan to run throwback scheme at Darlington that honors his Dad: David Ragan's Aaron's Dream Machine will carry a familiar paint scheme when it races in the Southern 500 at Darlington. The #55 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota will sport a paint scheme similar to cars driven by David's father Ken Ragan when he drove in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. "My Dad and guys like my Dad put a lot of heart and soul in this sport back in the 1970s and 80s and this is my way of honoring the guys that built what all of us enjoy today," said Ragan. "I want to thank Aaron's for allowing us to recognize my Dad and all the racers from that era at Darlington this year." Ken Ragan, 64, raced in 50 Sprint Cup races from 1983-90 driving mostly for his brother Marvin. His career included five starts at Darlington Raceway. His son's car will carry the red and white paint scheme similar to the scheme Ken drove in 1987. "I was too young to really ever remember watching Dad race on the track," said 29-year-old David. "But he's been a big part of my career and I know he has a lot of friends in the garage who will remember seeing him in this car." A few years ago, David built a replica race car and presented it to Ken as a present. That car is on display in 2015 at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA. The Ragans, along with the show car David presented to Ken, will visit the Aaron's store, 111 Pamplico Hwy, in Florence at 4 p.m. on Saturday Sept. 5 then join in the Southern 500 parade in Darlington that night.(MWR), see an image of the car on the #55 Team Schemes page.(8-20-2015)

  • Mello Yello Returns to the Track on Larson's #42 Chevy at Darlington: After racing on the big screen in Days of Thunder in 1990 and the NASCAR circuit for four seasons, the classic Mello Yello paint scheme is set to return to the track over Labor Day weekend for the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway on Kyle Larson's #42 Target Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) Chevy. The throwback paint scheme will be featured during a race weekend that is meant to highlight Darlington's rich racing history. The Mello Yello paint scheme was first made famous while being driven by Tom Cruise in the NASCAR-based movie Days of Thunder, and also served as the primary paint scheme on Kyle Petty's #42 car from 1991 - 1994 in NASCAR's top series. And, although Larson wasn't alive for the release of Days of Thunder and had barely started watching racing when Petty drove the Mello Yello car, there is a connection between the 23-year-old NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) driver and the classic paint scheme - Felix Sabates. The long-time NASCAR team owner fielded Petty's #42 car at SABCO Racing, and is currently a co-owner with Chip Ganassi on Larson's #42 Target Chevy.
    Notes of Interest:
" No Stranger to Racing: The racing roots of Mello Yello date back to its 1979 launch, when it was introduced as the "World's Fastest Soft Drink" and sponsored Frank Oglesby's dragster. Over the years, the popular Coca-Cola beverage has remained no stranger to motorsports. In addition to being on the fictitious car driven by Cruise in Days of Thunder, and on Kyle Petty's #42 car, Mello Yello has served as the title sponsor for the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) since 2013.
" A Tale of Two Kyle's: Although Kyle Petty had 20 previous starts at Darlington before he debuted the Mello Yello paint scheme in 1991, his first race in that car at the track shares something in common with Larson's first start at the "Lady in Black." Both drivers started those respective races in the teens and gained nine spots to finish in the top-10. Last season, Larson, in his first NSCS start at Darlington, improved nine spots from a 17th place start to finish eighth.
    Quote Board:
Bobby Oliver, Director of Citrus Brands, The Coca-Cola Company: "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to put the iconic Mello Yello paint scheme back on track this weekend at Darlington Raceway. Mello Yello has been associated with motorsports for many years, and to highlight the brand at such an historic racetrack is great. We're looking forward to having Mello Yello back on the #42 for the first time since 1994, and are happy to have the chance to partner with Kyle and Target Chip Ganassi Racing for this unique race."
" Felix Sabates, Co-Owner, Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates: "Running the Mello Yello paint scheme for the throwback-themed race weekend at Darlington Raceway will be great. For me, having run this car with Kyle Petty earlier in my career, it is very special to see it on track again with Kyle Larson. I'm sure this car will help add to the excitement that's already surrounding this year's Southern 500."
" Kyle Larson, Driver #42 Mello Yello Chevrolet SS: "This paint scheme has such a cool history between the movie and Kyle Petty having run it for Felix, so I'm really excited to drive it. Days of Thunder is definitely one of my favorite racing movies, and I know it's a favorite for a lot of fans too. The connection with Felix is pretty cool. Even though I was too young to watch Kyle Petty driving the Mello Yello car, I know people will remember the scheme from those days, as well as his crazy hair from back then. There's just a lot of fun stuff surrounding this car, so I'm really glad that the Target team is able to run it for Darlington's throwback race. I think the fans are really going to like it."

  • Stenhouse Unveils Iconic #17 Pearson Scheme for Darlington: A NASCAR 'Throwback' weekend at Darlington Raceway and a #17 Ford canvas made for an undeniable invitation for a David Pearson Ford Torino retro paint scheme. As Pearson remains the winningest driver at Darlington with 10 trips to victory lane at the historic track, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and his sponsor Cargill Beef were honored with the opportunity. "David Pearson is not only an icon in our sport, he is one of the greatest racers of all time," said Stenhouse. "He knew how to save his car for when it counted and that's why he had over 100 wins. From the time I thought this paint scheme might be a possibility, I have been counting the days to get that car on the track at Darlington. I only hope I do it justice."
The gold and blue paint scheme that will run on the #17 Roush Fenway entry in Darlington is the scheme that Pearson drove to two Grand National Championships in 1968 and 1969 for Holman Moody. Two of his 10 Darlington wins were also with the gold and blue Torino in 1968 & 1970. "Seeing the car that Stenhouse is running in Darlington brought back some great memories," recalled Pearson. "We won a lot of races with that paint scheme. I think bringing back some of these old paint schemes is a great way to remind a new generation about some of the best years in NASCAR history."
Cargill's "For the Love of Meat" messaging is all about celebrating how meat fits into the American culture and nothing is more American than a Throwback NASCAR race in Darlington on Labor Day weekend. "As soon as the folks at Roush Fenway told us about the throwback weekend in Darlington, we knew we wanted to be a part of it," said Mike Martin, director of communications. "All diehard NASCAR fans know of the 'Silver Fox' and his accomplishments and we're honored to have our logo on the car for what promises to be a memorable race weekend." Cargill Beef is also launching a social media photo contest that fans can enter by sharing their best beef grilling moments with the hashtag #FortheLoveofBeef. Fans who participate will be entered to win autographed Ricky Stenhouse Jr. merchandise. The contest will run from August 18th through the Darlington race weekend.
The tradition returns to Labor Day weekend as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Bojangles' Southern 500 is set for Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015. The NASCAR XFINITY Series VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 will race on Saturday, Sept. 5. Tickets are on sale now by calling 866-459-7223 or visiting www.DarlingtonRaceway.com.(Darlington Raceway). • Johnson in a special throwback scheme at Darlington: Jimmie Johnson will take the track at Darlington Raceway in a #48 Lowe's Chevy SS that will give NASCAR fans flashbacks to the early days of NASCAR. Johnson's throwback paint scheme will feature a Lowe's Home Improvement logo that was used prominently throughout the 1940s and 1950s, shortly after the company's founding in 1946 and during the same time period that Darlington Raceway first opened in 1950. The retro paint scheme celebrates the long, rich history that Lowe's has had in NASCAR that began well before its long-standing successful partnership with Jimmie Johnson. Lowe's was the title sponsor of the Lowe's 150 race at North Wilkesboro Speedway for decades and worked with Richard Petty as a spokesperson in the mid-1960s to support his "Petty Blue" riding mowers sold at Lowe's stores. Legendary drivers such as Davey Alison and Harry Gant even made special appearances at Lowe's store grand openings in the 1980s. One decade later, Lowe's would appear on the hood of Brett Bodine's #11 car and Mike Skinner's #31 Chevy Monte Carlo before finding its home on Johnson's #48 Chevy. Johnson has won at Darlington three times, most recently in 2012, and has earned 12 top ten finishes in his 16 starts at the historic track. He'll be seeking his fourth win at the historic Darlington, South Carolina track in September. (Lowe's Racing), see an image of the car on the #48 team paint schemes page.(8-16-2015)

  • Sport Clips Haircuts Joins Darlington's Tribute to the 1970's: Sport Clips Haircuts unveiled today the #11 Sport Clips Toyota Camry Denny Hamlin will pilot for the September 6 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Darlington Raceway. As part of Darlington's throwback weekend to celebrate the 1970's, the #11 Sport Clips Camry in the Cup Series will run a retro scheme inspired by Cale Yarborough. This will not be the first time Hamlin has driven a Camry inspired by Yarborough at Darlington. For the 2012 Bojangles' Southern 500, Hamlin donned a retro firesuit and a retro paint scheme to honor Yarborough's induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Of all drivers who have won in the #11 car, Yarborough leads the list with 55 total wins (see the full list on the #11 Team News & Links page). • Team and Millercoors celebrates 25-year partnership: Team Penske and long-time partner MillerCoors will embark on their 25th year of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) competition together in 2015. They will celebrate the partnership throughout the season with promotions and special paint schemes. The two elite brands began their current NASCAR relationship at the outset of the 1991 NSCS season and the #2 Miller Lite look has become a racing icon ever since. To kick off the celebration of the 25th anniversary of primary sponsorship on the #2 Ford Fusion, Team Penske and Miller Lite have created a commemorative 25th anniversary logo that will be displayed on the hood of the Miller Lite Ford Fusion at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend and run on the TV panel of the Ford Fusion for each Miller Lite sponosred race in 2015.
Miller Lite and Team Penske will use the milestone occasion to involve fans as they will have the opportunity to vote on three different itinerations for the Miller Lite "Blue Deuce," now affectionately dubbed the "Blanco Deuce." The winning paint scheme will appear in the All-Star race at Charlotte in May. The anniversary will also be marked throughout the season with two additional significant paint schemes. First, the #2 will feature the iconic black and gold Miller Genuine Draft scheme for the Michigan race in August and then feature the red and white Miller High Life design that was featured in 1980s for the return to Darlington on Labor Day weekend. The partnership between Team Penske and MillerCoors actually spans more than 30 years, dating back to the organization's IndyCar program as well as sponsorship of race tracks formerly owned by Penske Corporation, making it one of the most enduring and strongest sponsor-team relationships in all of sports.(Team Penske), see images of both cars on the #2 Team Schemes page.(3-6-2015)

Fans can follow stories around the seven-week platform and share their personal expressions of thanks to the military using #NASCARSalutes on social media.
"The NASCAR community rallying to honor the U.S. Armed Forces, past and present, has long been part of our sport's heritage," said Brent Dewar, NASCAR chief operating officer. "As part of NASCAR: An American Salute, 600 Miles of Remembrance represents a special moment in time as we pay tribute to service members who have sacrificed dearly for our freedom."
Many of the service members whose names will be displayed on the race cars were chosen by the teams, and some have unique connections to the fallen. Private Dean Van Dyke, who was killed in the Vietnam War, was a relative of #16 Roush Fenway Racing driver Greg Biffle. This effort coincides with the May 21 launch of Goodyear's charity auction at www.Goodyear.com/GivesBack, which features autographed NASCAR memorabilia, VIP race experiences and rides on the Goodyear Blimp.
Bank of America is the presenting partner of NASCAR Troops to the Track - a season-long program that honors members of the military and their families for their services, and treats them to a NASCAR race experience. The center, which will be located in the midway, will be fully equipped with food and beverages, allowing service members to take a break and meet NASCAR drivers throughout the weekend.
In honor of the military, Miss Sprint Cup will wear NASCAR: An American Salute fire suits at the Coca-Cola 600 and Coke Zero 400.
This Sunday, NASCAR drivers will discuss 600 Miles of Remembrance on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (channel 90) during a special military tribute show airing at 1:00pm/et.
