Who will drive the #34? UPDATE: Front Row Motorsports needed a replacement, but... David Reutimann is kicking himself. The former Sprint Cup driver had the opportunity to race for Front Row Motorsports this weekend in the #34 Ford at Atlanta Motor Speedway. However, Reutimann, who is traveling in California, told Motorsport.com on Tuesday he had not renewed his NASCAR license for 2015. Reutimann says he hopes to return to racing at some point. Renewing his NASCAR license and getting his physical would be a good place to start.
Bobby Labonte has been mentioned as a fill in for David Ragan this weekend. Sources confirmed that the team has talked to the 2000 NASCAR champ. With 48 entries for the Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Labonte's past champion's provisional would come in handy.(Motorsport)(2-24-2015)
UPDATE: Front Row Motorsports tweeted: "Happy to have Joe Nemechek on board this weekend, driving the #34 @CSX #PlayItSafe Ford at Atlanta Motor Speedway.(2-25-2015)
Nemechek plans partial Cup schedule; unsure of Daytona 500: With the Daytona 500 two weeks away from Sunday, Joe Nemechek is skeptical on if his team will field an entry for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season opener. Nemechek, who competed in 15 Sprint Cup races in 2014, says his team's primary focus for 2015 is the Camping World Truck Series. "Everything's based on funding," he said. "Right now, the Truck team is definitely priority." According to Nemechek, goals for his team in 2015 include running all 23 races, compete for the owner's championship and see son John Hunter Nemechek score his first career win in NASCAR's third-tier series. Nemechek partnered his Cup operation with Identity Ventures Racing in 2014, eventually being bought out of his role during the second half of last season. "I'm back to having my own team, which we are right now preparing cars for this year," Nemechek said. "We're only going to make a few starts this year, but we're getting geared up again to run a few races out of NEMCO Motorsports and our #87 Chevy." NEMCO Motorsports will field entries in all three of NASCAR's national touring series in 2015. But the organization's Cup effort will be a complete reboot, with Nemechek's team not having most of its fleet of cars from 2014. "We're basically starting over," Nemechek said. "Most of the cars that were current and were running [in 2014] are all with the other Cup team. "[It's] one day at a time. Both trucks are almost finished for Daytona, [we're] getting our [Xfinity] car together for Daytona, and still working on the Cup stuff. We'll see how far we get."(The Racing Experts)(2-6-2015)
Nemechek was in his own owned #87 car from 1995-1996; then was in the #42 at Sabco from 1997-1999; the #33 at Andy Petree Racing from 2000-2001; started the 2002 season in the #26 for a few races, one race in the #10, then took over the #25 at Hendrick Motorsports until the end of 2003; ran the #01 Chevy from 2004 thru 2006; started the 2007 season in the #13, moving to Furniture Row Racing's #78 until the end of 2008; then moving back to his own team NEMCO's #87 in 2009 which he ran full-time until the end of the 2013 season; started the 2014 season running the #87 in the Daytona 500, but DNQ, then ran 14 races in JJR/MWR's #66, parted ways with that team late in the season
Trouble with #66/#87 Ownership? UPDATE: The former managing partner of a large Atlanta real estate firm faces a lawsuit that claims he stole millions of dollars from the firm. The lawsuit, obtained from a source by Channel 2's Mike Petchenik, was filed Monday at Fulton County Superior court, and alleges that Nat Hardwick, a partner in Morris, Hardwick and Schneider, had taken at least $30 million from firm accounts and from escrow accounts belonging to Landcastle Title. The lawsuit alleged that Hardwick took "approximately a $1,000,000 to pay providers of private jet services," and made "$4,000,000 in wire transfers to casinos." The lawsuit also alleges that Hardwick covered up his actions until they were discovered by auditors.
Ed Garland, an attorney for Hardwick, called the allegations "false," and said "Nat looks forward to clearing his name."
"Nat became aware of a problem with the accounting earlier this summer and immediately alerted his partners and initiated a review by outside auditors," Garland said in a statement."...Anybody who knows Nat knows that he loves the law firm, its employees, the attorneys and the firm's many loyal clients. He would never knowingly or intentionally take money he was not entitled to or harm the firm or its clients in any way," Garland said. "The law firm was profitable, and Nat believed that all of the money he received was properly distributed to him as his share of the profits of the firm."
What does this have to do with NASCAR and the #66 / #87 Jay Robinson Racing / / Michael Waltrip Racing team?
LandCastle Title, Smart Ben and or Morris-Hardwick-Schneider have been on the #66 Toyota and on the #87 Toyota as a sponsor in many races during the 2014 season The last two races Brett Moffitt has driven the #66 Toyota with Royal Teak Collection as the sponsor at Bristol and no sponsor on the car at Atlanta.
From the PR announced on January 30, 2014: Veteran NASCAR team owners Jay Robinson and Joe Nemechek of NEMCO-JRR have partnered with a group of five business leaders including Atlanta based, Nat Hardwick, managing partner of Morris|Hardwick|Schneider and CEO and Chairman of The Board of LandCastle Title, to form Identity Ventures Racing. Identity Ventures Racing will be led by managing partner, Jay Robinson, crew chief, Scott Eggleston and driver, Joe Nemechek. And it was announced the same day: Michael Waltrip Racing announced a partnership with Jay Robinson Racing enabling the #66 Toyota Camry to race in all 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup events.
The #66 Toyota has attempted to make all the races in 2014 and the #87 has made 2 of 5 attempted races in 2014.
No word on how or if this will affect either team.

UPDATE: There is no trouble with the ownership of the #66 team which is owned by Michael Waltrip and Jay Robinson. The Nat Hardwick situation will have no effect on the plans of the #87 Team either as Nat Hardwick's shares totaled less than 25% of Identity Ventures Racing. "The only remaining race scheduled for the #87 is Talladega in the Fall and the #87 will certainly be there," said team owner Jay Robinson.(JRR)(9-2-2014)
Owners Points Updates: NASCAR announced that it has approved points for three new ownership groups. The points from the #32 car owned by Frank Stoddard last season will go to Go Fas Racing. That features the new partnership between Stoddard's Fas Lane Racing and Archie St. Hilarie's Go Green Racing.
The points from the #55 Michael Waltrip car last season will go to the #66 car of Robinson Racing Team. That car is being shared by MWR and Jay Robinson Racing.
That doesn't mean the #55 car at MWR driven by Brian Vickers this year will be without points. The team is moving the points earned from the #56 car with Martin Truex Jr. last year to the car Vickers will drive this year.
Also, the #87 car formerly known as NEMCO Motorsports will be known as Identity Ventures Racing, which is a partnership of Jay Robinson, Joe Nemechek, Troy Stafford, James Hamilton and John Burns. It will use the points (40th) earned from Nemechek's #87 car last year.(MRN)(2-13-2014)

Joe & John Hunter Nemechek to share Truck Series ride: SWM-NEMCO Motorsports announced unprecedented plans for father and son Joe and John Hunter Nemechek to share a tag-team single season of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for 2014. This move allows the #8 truck, owned by SWM-NEMCO Racing, to run the whole season with John Hunter racing the 10 races at all the tracks that NASCAR allows at his age of 16. His dad, Joe will be mounting a campaign at racing the other 12. John Hunter will be running a combo of short track and one mile ovals, coupled with a road course and a dirt track. "Front Row Joe" will be taking the balance of the season at the larger tracks and super speedways.
