- Robby Gordon Motorsports Assisting in Hurricane Katrina Recovery: Among the millions of people affected by the devastating destruction from Hurricane Katrina are more than 6,000 Harrah’s Entertainment employees from three casino properties in Gulfport, Miss., Biloxi, Miss., and New Orleans. In an effort to assist those displaced by the storm, Robby Gordon Motorsports (RGM) will donate $7 for each completed lap in its #7 Chevrolet’s for remainder of the 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series season to the Harrah’s Employee Recovery Fund, which Harrah’s Entertainment established to assist its employees experiencing the after-affects of
the tragedy.
Beginning this weekend at California Speedway in Fontana, a possible 3,877 laps could be run in the season’s final 12 races. If the car
completes each of those laps, the team will donate more than $25,000 to the Fund through this program. Additionally, Robby Gordon
Motorsports will donate 10% to the Fund from the sale of all licensed merchandise, including Harrah’s Racing apparel and collectibles, sold at RGM’s trackside souvenir trailer and through its on-line store at www.robbygordon.com.
RGM will also collect donations at its track-side souvenir trailer from race fans at each track through the end of the season. These
donations also will be forwarded to the Harrah’s Employee Recovery Fund. Thus far in 2005, Gordon has completed 4,775 of a possible 5,581 laps (85.5 percent) in NASCAR competition.
The RGM track-side souvenir trailer will be prominently positioned at each race track for the remainder of the 2005 season starting this
weekend at the California Speedway and followed by races at Richmond; New Hampshire; Dovery; Talladega; Kansas; Lowe’s Motor Speedway (Charlotte, NC); Martinsville; Atlanta; Texas; Phoenix; and Homestead.
Among the affected properties in the Gulf Coast area are the Harrah’s Grand Casino Biloxi, the Grand Casino Gulfport and Harrah’s New

happened is just heart wrenching. I've got friends and family that have taken a beating last week and we just wanted to do something to
help. Watching the coverage on TV, I saw the relief centers handing out water from the back of 18 wheelers and it just clicked as to how
we could help. Milt Bishop, our hauler driver volunteered to ride with me and we started rounding up water. We're picking up the water in Georgia and will be in Mobile on Saturday. I can't tell you how much we appreciate the American Red Cross for the job they do.
These guys are real pros; they are the first in and the last out. They just do an amazing job of helping and more importantly caring." shuttle key personnel and supplies to the affected areas. Although crews and airplanes were already dispatched to California Speedway,
JGR was able to coordinate the use of its 19 passenger G-1 for several key rescue efforts. On Thursday, the JGR plane took a team of doctors equipped with medical equipment to Baton Rouge, La., along with many cases of bottled water and Powerade. Later this weekend, JGR will coordinate a team from Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse as they deploy to Mobile, Ala. JGR has committed its aircraft for an ongoing effort with Samaritan's Purse in shuttling key personnel in and out of the disaster area. Additionally, JGR is accepting donations to both the Red Cross and Samaritan's Purse on their website, www.joegibbsracing.com as well as at each of its souvenir trailers at the remaining races. JGR has challenged its employees to make donations, all of which will be matched by the company. - Crawford Deleivers Water: With the scenes of devastation from hurricane Katrina filling the airwaves; Mobile, Alabama native, Rick Crawford and the Circle Bar Truck CorralRace team decided it was time to take action. Crawford's Dad taught him that actions speak louder than words and action not words is what is needed on the Gulf Coast. While it will take months to sort through all the damage caused by hurricane Katrina and years to fix it, the people on the coast are suffering now! Many of the members of the Circle Bar team still have close ties to the Gulf Coast and they moved into action. The team unloaded a race ready hauler to make room for the basic necessity of survival, water. On Friday, Crawford and his Spotter/Hauler Driver Milt 'Magic Man' Bishop left on what would become more than just another delivery. Because of the tight supply of bottled water the closest place to buy water was in Atlanta. Arriving after 5:00 on Friday night Bishop and Crawford hand loaded the 500 cases into the Circle Bar hauler and set a course South to the Gulf Coast. After a short nights rest in a truck stop parking lot in South Alabama the load was ready for delivery to the American Red Cross. In reverse roles, Bishop as driver and Crawford as spotter, Crawford helped navigate Bishop through his hometown, picking their way through the debris and carnage that Katrina left behind. Clear-high took on new meaning with the downed trees and power lines. The Red Cross and its volunteers were waiting on the Circle Bar hauler to start the unloading process. They formed a water brigade line to unload the water from the Circle Bar hauler into one of the Red Cross's 18-wheelers. The 100 plus degree heat index would take it's toll on the water brigade but there was no quit in this group, there is simply too much to be done. With the last bottle of water unloaded Crawford thanked the volunteers and Bishop readied the hauler for the return trip.(Circle Bar)(9-10-2005)
- Ganassi drivers visit the Gulf region: Three NASCAR drivers were shocked by the extent of the damage in the Gulf Coast when they flew down for a visit Thursday. The drivers know they’ve got a lot of fans on the coast and the trip was a chance for them to tell the people down there that they had fans too. The flight went to Waveland, Mississippi, Katrina’s ground zero. The mission was to swap out Charlotte SWAT team members protecting Carolina Medical Center’s (CMC) mobile hospital, MED-1. At MED-1 there was a surprise, drivers Casey Mears, David Stremme and Kevin Hamlin. For the drivers it was a first look at the devastation. “(We wanted) To show our support for the Carolina’s medical team,” said Hamlin. In five weeks, MED-1 has treated over 5,000 patients. “They give you all the time in the world,” said patient Wayne Lander. Down there, every new turn reveals damage. “It’s crazy,” said Mears. “There’s nothing here.”
“Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be able to see something like this, see how it’s affecting people,” said Hamlin. “It’s something I never want to have to experience.” Thursday life in the fast land slowed. Whether you’ve lost everything, are working around the clock, give help or are sick, like patients at MED-1, it helps knowing someone is rooting for you. “It’s nice to at least put a smile on somebody’s face,” said Mears. MED-1 is scheduled to return to the Queen City at the end of October. It has been deployed in the Gulf Coast since early September.(wcnc.com)(9-30-2005)

roads could be found. The water from Anheuser-Busch is shipped to independent wholesalers in the Gulf Coast region and distributed by the Red Cross, The Salvation Army and other relief agencies. Anheuser-Busch also is donating aluminum cans and lids manufactured at its facilities in Windsor, Colo., Rome, Ga., and Gainesville, Fla. The Anheuser-Busch Foundation is also donating $1 million to the Red Cross to help ongoing relief efforts along the Gulf Coast communities devastated by Hurricane Katrina. In addition, the company is matching contributions made by its employees to the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and is matching up to an additional $1 million from its independent wholesalers nationwide. Helping communities cope with natural disasters has been an Anheuser-Busch tradition since 1906 when Adolphus Busch made a donation to victims of the San Francisco earthquake. Today, in addition to providing monetary support, Anheuser-Busch breweries package fresh drinking water and donate it to emergency relief organizations for distribution to those in need. In the past five years, Anheuser-Busch has donated more than 46 million cans of water to victims of natural disasters. The Hurricane Katrina relief brings the total to more than 50 million. - Office Depot - Kids of Katrina: Office Depot, a leading global provider of office products and services, today announced that the Company is helping to support "Kids of Katrina" -- a special relief effort created by National PTA to assist those schools impacted by Hurricane Katrina. Joining with Office Depot are Roush Racing and Carl Edwards, driver of the #99 Office Depot Ford in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series. In the wake of one of the most devastating natural disasters to hit the nation, Edwards publicly stated that he would donate his winnings from the Ameriquest 300 race held at California Speedway earlier this month to the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Edwards is also focusing his support on "Kids of Katrina" in order to help provide much needed backpacks and supplies to children as they return to school. Additionally, Office Depot is donating backpacks and school supplies to the "Kids of Katrina" program. The Company already made a $1 million dollar donation to the American Red Cross for the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
Those interested in learning more or lending their support to the "Kids of Katrina" effort can go online to www.officedepotracing.com and link to National PTA's "Kids of Katrina" donation form. RACE TRACKS ANNOUNCEMENTS
- LVMS to collect donations to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina: Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be collecting money
throughout the month of September to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina, speedway officials announced Wednesday. Speedway personnel and competitors will collect funds at every LVMS event. The money will be turned over to the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross. The money then will be sent to Red Cross chapters in the Gulf Coast region. "Our hearts go out to all of those people who have been affected by the storm," said LVMS general manager Chris Powell. "It seems that with every news report that comes in there is another heartbreaking story. We want to do our part to assist in the relief efforts, and we hope that we are just one of thousands of organizations that will help in the relief effort." The Red Cross has asked for monetary donations instead of clothing or canned goods due to the cost of transporting the material cross country. Over the next three weeks, collections will be taken at the gates at both the Bullring and the Strip. In addition, racers will come through the stands at each event and take collections prior to the start of racing action. Plans still are being finalized between the speedway and the Red Cross to arrange for the collection of donations during the Las Vegas
Double Down featuring the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and Champ Car World Series on Sept. 24.(LVMS PR)(8-31-2005)

- An Urgent Plea From the President of RacingUSA.com [from David Carrington, President, RacingUSA.com:] Tuesday night, as I watched the sheer devastation of hurricane Katrina on television, I couldn't help but reflect on my first and only personal encounter with a Category 4 hurricane - Carla, in 1961. I was 13 years old - the hurricane passed over our home - and the devastation along the Texas Gulf Coast was something I'll never forget.
In retrospect, Carla was no more than a blemish on Katrina's face. Hundreds of thousands of lives have been indelibly changed forever. I
went to bed Tuesday night knowing that I had to do something. The first thing my wife and I did was to write a check to the Red Cross. But, that didn't seem to be enough. Next, I announced to our associates that the company would match any donation they made to the Red Cross. But, I still wasn't satisfied. I wanted RacingUSA.com to do something extraordinary to assist in the relief efforts.
That's why I'm writing this urgent plea to you. I need your help! Today, through Sunday, September 11 (the 44th anniversary of hurricane
Carla and the 4th anniversary of the terrorist bombings in New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia), we're going to donate 20% of all sales of
in-stock merchandise to the Red Cross. In addition, I promise to send all of our clients who purchase in-stock merchandise from RacingUSA.com during this campaign a copy of our check and a personal letter acknowledging the amount we donated in their honor to the Red Cross.
I'm sure I don't need to tell you that the damaged areas are in NASCAR Country. This is an opportunity for the entire RacingUSA.com family of clients, vendors, drivers, teams, and associates to do something together that we could never do alone.
Our goal is to write a check for more than $25,000.00 to the Red Cross. It's a challenging goal, but more than achievable if just 10%
of our clients purchase a hat or a shirt, not to mention a jacket or a diecast car. In closing, I understand that these are hard times for many of our clients. If you decide that you can't financially participate in this campaign, I fully understand. As an alternative, please consider
making a donation of blood to the Red Cross - even before this catastrophic event, it was in short supply.
Thanks in advance for anything you decide to do.
