Tide runs commercial featuring Daytona track clean up: A new Tide TV commercial ... seeks to capitalize on the detergent's brand unexpected product placement during Fox's telecast of the Daytona 500. The Procter & Gamble laundry detergent is not a NASCAR or Daytona sponsor. But Tide got millions worth of free exposure when Fox viewers saw safety workers using Tide to clean the track after a fiery crash at Daytona International Speedway covered Turn 3 with 200 gallons of burning jet fuel. Tide was smart enough to capitalize on the free product placement immediately. A new spot ran during Fox's telecast of the The Subway Fresh Fit 500 Sunday. The ad shows footage of Daytona workers using Tide to clean up the track. "You keep inventing stains. We'll keep inventing ways to get them out," says the commercial.(USA Today), commercial can be seen at the link.(3-5-2012)
