- How can a reader email or contact NASCAR?
See my Racing FAQ page for the answer and the links/addresses.
- What is The Silly Season?
It is traditionally the last half of the racing season when drivers,
crew chiefs and sponsors change teams.
But...Silly Season seems to have expanded into a year long unending event!
So the page lives on full-time and keep me very busy!
This page was created to try to make sense of Silly Season, have some fun
and provide a central location for Sprint Cup fans to get info on Sprint Cup teams, drivers, crews and sponsors!
ENJOY! Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to link my pages!
- What/Who is Jayski?
Information on Jayski and WHY I started this site on Aug 26, 1996, can be found on my home page at: Jayski's Home Page.
- How can a reader/company advertise on Jayski? What are the rates?
If you wish to place and ad or have marketing/partner questions email see the Advertiser Info Page. Any and all banners on the site are paid for, I don't do banner exchanges with other sites.
- How often does Jayski update the page?
I update the main page as often as I get hot news from sources, other Internet, TV or magazines. It could be once a day, or many times a day, no set schedule. The site gets updates every day of the year, even in the offseason and holidays.
- Why does the Jayski site have banners on the main page? and How can someone get on put on the Jayski Site?
The banners on the main page are paid advertisers which is how Jayski and ESPN.com (who house my site) make money and how Jayski makes a living working 10-15 hours a day on the site, last full day off? Jan 5, 1998.
Only paid advertisers are put on the main page. Sorry, will not do link exchanges or banner exchanges on site. DO NOT post awards on the main page either. I try to keep the graphics limited on the main page and concentrate on information. If you wish to place and ad or have marketing/partner questions email see the Advertiser Info Page. No, not looking to and will not affiliate with or join any webrings. Not interested in posting web awards or anything like that. Feel free to use my banner or button if you wish, see my Jayski Banner/Button page.
- What Jayski WILL NOT post or respond to?
I TRY to be ethical and non-bias about the stories I put on the page. Sometimes my grammar and spelling mistakes make it to the page and I apologize. I don't just put any rumor on the page that is emailed me. Some folks get upset when I get an email from them and don't just throw their rumor up on the page. If I get a rumor and it sounds feasible, I send the rumor to a few of my proven sources, who have their own contacts. If they back it up, I'll put it up. If I can find no reason to put the rumor up, I save the message and forget it. Remember it is a News and RUMORS page
I have the last two or so days of news/rumors on the main page. I move the rest of the news/rumors to weekly archive pages, the latest being considered PAGE 2. Links to these pages can be found on the MAIN page or the Chronicles/Archive Page. So if you don't see a news items on the page, check the text based PAST pages for the news/rumors. If it is something specific, use your browsers SEARCH/FIND feature or use the Google search feature on the MAIN page. I leave some important news/rumors on the main page longer.
Sprint CUP stuff goes on the main page, I have a separate pages for each race for news and links about the race. Have pages that deal with Busch and CTS rumors/news on the Busch Site and the Truck Site. Don't follow these series quite as close.
If you have some news or rumors on a race track please include the exact link to the story where I can find it. If not, don't get mad when I do not post it.
If someone wishes to report a Sprint CUP rumor or news, I need an idea of a source or a link to go check out the rumor. My sources who I have established need not do this. If it your first email rumor to me, I need an idea where you heard the news. If you report a rumor or news I have already included on the site in the past, good chance I won't respond. Chat rooms, message boards, forums and the newsgroups are very POOR sources. If I have never received anything from you before, don't expect me to 'just post it', ain't gonna happen. I'll check with sources, if the rumor/news is heard elsewhere, I may still post it.
I will NOT put up rumors of drivers having affairs, sexual orientation, etc. So don't send me this stuff!! and I won't respond to personal questions on this stuff.
- Why do I keep getting an old Jayski page? You never update anymore....yada...yada...yada
Try holding the SHIFT key and press RELOAD/REFRESH, this will load the latest update......or
You need to establish how often your browser checks to see if a Web page has changed since it was stored in your cache. This checking process may be necessary since Web pages often change with each visit -- you don't want to view the cached version of the page if the online version is more up-to-date. On the other hand, this checking process, while not nearly as lengthy as reloading an entire page, does take extra time.
The frequency which your browser checks for updated pages should be based on your surfing habits. There are three possible settings listed in the same dialogue box where you configured your disk cache size: Never, Once Per Session, and Every Time.
If you tend to visit Web sites that change frequently (such as Jayski's Silly Season Site), you should choose Every Time. Choose Once Per Session if the sites you visit aren't updated very often (i.e. friends' homepages). If you're positive that the sites you visit never change, then select Never. To change the settings check your browsers help section:
- How does Jayski find out all this info?
How do you find all this info out? I have certain sites (NASCAR Online, AP, Sporting News, 100+ Newspaper Sites, etc) I check daily on the web, read many magazines about NASCAR Sprint Cup, watch all the races and racing programs on TV, listen to the Cup radio shows, get email newsletters from many sources, and have a few reliable sources who email me. I also receive email from other interested fans with stories and links. I stay away from the personal stuff like divorces, girlfriends, sexual preferences and those type rumors. I DO NOT POST OPINIONS, START PETITIONS, CAMPAIGNS against NASCAR or TV stuff. What does the date after the news/rumor story mean? The date after the news/rumor is the date I posted it on the page. Not the date of a story.
- Where can a reader submit news/rumors to Jayski?
Email me at the address provided on this page. Read the conditions I set forth on this page on what I will accept and post. I need a source, where you got the info or an idea who you are and your connection. Don't send me news/rumors from another site and try to take credit for them, that's not right. Don't waste time sending NASCAR Online or AP links/stories as I keep abreast of those sites often.
- Will JAYSKI.COM sponsor any more race cars? SIM cars/sites? Fantasy games?
No plans are in the works to sponsor any races cars in any series at the present time. I have no money to sponsor a race car. I can't place messages for teams, not in Sprint Cup or maybe Busch about sponsorship. This is a news and rumors page for CUP series. Thanks for understanding.
Will Jayski sponsor or partner a SIM or NASCAR Game (or whatever it's called now) site or SIM car?
No, I get too many requests to do this. I do not play the game, do not have time, not interested and am not looking to partner with these sites or anyone's car (online or offline). Feel free to draw up a Silly Season car and use it.
My thoughts on Fanatsy Games/Sites: I do not join or participate in Fantasy Leagues/Races/Games/Simulations, etc. No time or interest. ESPN has a few fantasy games, I do not post fantasy links anymore and have killed off the Fantasy Leagues/Games links page.
Can someone put www.jayski.com on their race car in any series?
Sure, feel free to use any of my graphics and the jayski address. Feel free to send an image of the car. I'd be glad to mention it. Don't feel free to send me the sponsor bill and read the above question.
- Why is your spelling/grammar bad at times?
This is a pet peeve of many readers. Sorry folks, sometimes in the midst of trying to get a hot story out, I let the spelling slip. I have a spell checker on my Allaire Homesite 5.5 HTML editor and use it often, but sometimes things get by me. No need to email me about my spelling/grammar or give me hints. I usually catch up to it eventually. As for my grammar, that can be worse than my spelling. I was not an English Major and was never good at grammar as I tend to speak/write in slang. Plus some of my stories are copied from the source and I usually leave them the way they are written unless it is a glaring error. I am pretty bad mixing the past/present text, it just ads character to the site.
- What/Who are Jayski's sources?
Many websites such SpeedTV.com, ESPN.com, NASCAR.com, Fox Sports, SceneDaily, etc; TV Shows, the actual races and qualifying; Publications such as: NASCAR Scene, etc. I also have many inside sources and will NOT divulge who they are, so don't ask.
What are the parenthesis used in my stories/columns? These are the sources where I get some of my information. The majority are on-line . All with permission. Other sources work in NASCAR or with a team and information is used under condition of Anonymously. I will not reveal these sources to anyone. There are a couple writers I will not use, who have requested not to be posted on Jayski or have done the site wrong.
- What is Jayski's FAX number? Address?
I do have a FAX Machine, (email for number if necessary, if a PR, rather have it emailed so I can cut and paste and not type - plus geeting too many 'spam' faxes and hate/nasty faxes).
Address is Jayski LLC, PO Box 3937, Mooresville, NC 28117.
- Where can a Jayski reader buy a Jayski Racing TShirt?
The sale of the Jayski Tshirt has been discontinued. Sales were poor, folks want driver apparrel, not a website, so no more Jaysi stuff planned [as of Jan 2007]. No caps or stickers are planned.
- Why does Jayski.com use Cookies?(an Internet file). What is a Cookie?
Jayski.com uses Cookies on our MSII server to keep an accurate count if visitors, it is pretty common practice on most sites. Also the counter at the top of the page WebSideStory/Hitbox uses them for the same reason. It also allows accurate readership and viewer counts to possible advertisers.
