Mansfield Motorsports Park sale delayed until after appeals court ruling: The court order to sell Mansfield Motorsports Park at a sheriff's sale has been stayed until an appeals panel rules on a legal question. At issue is whether owners of the racetrack on the city's north end facility can retroactively challenge MMP's property tax assessment through the court system, bypassing usual processes set up under state law. The Fifth District Court of Appeals will hear that dispute in Mansfield on Jan. 12. Richland County Treasurer Bart W. Hamilton filed in September 2010 to foreclose against MMP for past-due property taxes. Since that time, total delinquency has climbed to $262,000, according to the treasurer's office. Mansfield Motorsports Park then separately filed a court action against the Richland County auditor and state tax commissioner, asking Richland County Common Pleas Judge James DeWeese to intervene to provide tax relief.(full story at Mansfield News Journal)(12-14-2011)
