Gibbs. “We were able to generate a lot of excitement for them last year and we’ll work hard this year to provide their agents, members and customers a program to be proud of now in our Cup program.”(JGR PR)

  • Gordon teams up with Pepsi again: Hendrick Motorsports and Pepsi are teaming up to give #24-Jeff Gordon fans something really refreshing next fall. #24-Jeff Gordon will partner with long-time sponsor, Pepsi, to run a special paint scheme at California Speedway on October 11, 2009. A break from his standard paint scheme, this royal blue car with extraordinary blue flames on both sides of the car is also available in brushed metal. • BB&T to sponsor #33 & Bowyer for eleven 2009 races: BB&T Corporation and Richard Childress Racing have agreed to an 11-race sponsorship for RCR’s #33 Chevy with driver Clint Bowyer for the 2009 Sprint Cup Series season. In addition to 10 points races, BB&T will also be the primary sponsor on Bowyer’s #33 Chevy for the annual Sprint Cup Series all-star race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in May. The March 8 race at Atlanta Motor Speedway will mark the first of three consecutive races for BB&T, followed by four in a row starting at Talladega in April and wrapping up with the all-star festivities in Charlotte. In September, BB&T will be showcased again in Atlanta and at Dover for the first of three Chase for the Sprint Cup races. Bowyer’s #33 Impala SS will also feature a burgundy and gold BB&T paint scheme at Martinsville and Talladega next fall. BB&T will serve as a major associate sponsor of the #33 Chevy for the remaining 26 races on the 2009 schedule while General Mills’ brands Cheerios and Hamburger Helper will be the primary sponsor. Next season will mark the second-consecutive year that BB&T has expanded its role within the RCR family of sponsors. In 2007, BB&T sponsored a partial Nationwide Series schedule with Bowyer in RCR’s flagship #2 Chevrolet. That role evolved into a 25-race schedule in 2008, in addition to two races on the #07 Chevy in the Sprint Cup Series.(RCR PR)(11-12-2008) Comment here

Hornish will debut the #77 Auto Club Dodge in February at the Auto Club 500 at Auto Club Speedway, Fontana, Calif. In addition, the motor club will serve as primary sponsor of the #77 Car in Sprint Cup Series events at Kansas Speedway in October and Texas Motor Speedway in November, and as co-primary sponsor for Hornish and the Car #77 team, alongside Penske Truck Rental, at the April Talladega Superspeedway and June New Hampshire Motor Speedway Sprint Cup Series races.(Penske Racing PR)(11-11-2008) Comment here

  • New look for the #24 in 2009 UPDATE 2 Image posted: Jeff Gordon announced on QVC's shopping show "For Race Fans Only" that the primary paint scheme will change on the #24 DuPont Chevy in 2009. The primary scheme seemingly changes whenever there's a new occupant in The White House. Gordon raced the rainbow-themed DuPont Chevrolet from 1993-2000 while Bill Clinton occupied the highest office in the land. Gordon experienced his greatest career success in the rainbow car. In 2001, he changed to the fire and flames scheme and raced that for the next 8 years while George Bush ran the country. And now, the third -- and likely, final -- incarnation of the DuPoint paint scheme will be raced in 2009 and beyond. The new 2009 DuPont paint scheme is expected to be unveiled during the week leading up to the October 11 race at Lowes Motor Speedway.(Gordonline.com), am hearing the base color will be BLACK.(9-20-2008)
UPDATE: #24-Jeff Gordon and sponsor DuPont are scheduled to unveil his 2009 (and beyond) paint scheme live on the NBC's Today Show Thursday [Oct 2nd] morning at 7:00am/et, Rockefeller Center, New York. It’s his first paint scheme change since 2001 and only the third since 1993.(10-1-2008)
AND Jeff Gordon will be a guest on the Thursday, Oct. 2, edition of ESPN First Take. The news and information program airs at 10am/et on ESPN2. Gordon will tell host Dana Jacobson why his car will have a new look in 2009. Gordon also will discuss the upcoming AMP Energy 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. The race airs live Sunday, Oct. 5, at 1pm/et on ABC.(ESPN PR)(10-1-2008)
UPDATE 2 - Image posted: One of NASCAR's most popular and successful drivers, Jeff Gordon, unveiled his brand new 2009 paint scheme before a national audience live on NBC's "TODAY Show" this morning, marking the first change Gordon has seen on his DuPont Chevrolet since 2001. Designed by popular motorsports artist Sam Bass, the new car features a sleek and stealth black body emblazoned with bold neon red, orange and blue flames. "I'm fired up about our new paint scheme," said Gordon. "I've always loved cars with flames and the current 'Fire and Flames' paint scheme has been one of my favorites. But now I think we've improved upon that with the 'FireStorm' design and hopefully we'll be as fast on the track as the paint scheme makes us look." The four-time Sprint Cup Champion will debut his new colors on-track at the 51st Running of the Daytona 500 in February when he celebrates his 17th season with primary sponsor, DuPont, and the 25th Anniversary of Hendrick Motorsports. "We have such a solid, longstanding relationship with both Jeff and Hendrick Motorsports, so continuing that relationship and debuting Jeff's new DuPont Chevrolet in conjunction with Hendrick's 25th Anniversary is very exciting for us and the sport as a whole," said David Bills, chief marketing and sales officer for DuPont. Motorsports Authentics, through its Action Racing Collectables die-cast brand, will be offering a collectable die-cast version of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet. Pre-orders are being taken on goracing.com, nascar.com and at Motorsports Authentics authorized dealers nationwide. The Racing Collectables Club of America (RCCA) will also offer a version of the die-cast through its RCCA Elite brand.(Motorsports Authentics PR), see an image of the scheme on my 2009 #24 Team Schemes page.(10-2-2008) Comment here

See some special Sept. 2001 Dover Paint Schemes on my
Terrorist Attacks - How the Drivers, Teams, NASCAR, fans are Helping out page

And some 9/11 images and photos on my 9/11 Rememerance Page

Some Page Notes

  1. Why were all story/column/article links moved to their own page back in August 2001?
Simple - The main page was getting huge, took too long to load, and was getting cluttered.
PLUS, I now have more room to play with and can leave the last two or three day's
worth of story links up and some old ones that seem important or are helpful/interesting

  2. No guarantee that the links work as sites move pages/links, reuse the link or remove them after a certain amount of time

  3. Some of these links have a short lifespan (a day, a week, a month....)

  4. Links usually posted in alphabetical order by site, current race location links at top.

  5. Story links added all through the day, usually done by noonish, unless I sleep in.

  6. Normally only link stories/columns that have their own page, not a site's main page (but hey, nothing is normal at Jayski's)

  7. Easy to tell what links you have visited earlier (depending on how you have your browser [Netscape/Explorer, etc] set up:

    NON-VISITED LINK IS BLUE and

    VISITED LINK IS GREEN

  8. If you do not see a column/story link here, and it was from a few days ago, go below and choose a dated page for past story links

  9. send any column links that you DO NOT see on this page or a past page to me, email address is on my FAQ(Frequently Asked Questions)/EMAIL Link Page

  10. and finally...a very IMPORTANT: The opinions expressed in any editorial/article linked on the site are not of the Jayski site
but are presented in the interest of giving readers a variety of points of views and some enjoyment.
Questions about their content or objections to those opinions should be directed towards the author of the article or the site that posts it.
