    • #39 to feature U.S. Army All-American Bowl: The hood of Ryan Newman's #39 U.S. Army/Haas Automation Chevy for Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Homestead-Miami Speedway will showcase the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, an annual football game featuring the nation's top 90 high school seniors. The 10th anniversary U.S. Army All-American Bowl is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The all-star classic -- East vs West match-up -- will be televised live on NBC, 1:00pm/et. The U.S. Army All-American Bowl alumni include many current NFL and college standouts including Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings), Chad Henne and Ted Ginn Jr. (Miami Dolphins), Reggie Bush (New Orleans Saints), Vince Young (Tennessee Titans), Mark Sanchez (New York Jets), Tim Tebow (University of Florida Gators), Terrell Pryor (Ohio State Buckeyes), Demarco Murray (Oklahoma Sooners) and Jimmy Clausen (Notre Dame Fighting Irish). Gerald Christian, a U.S. Army All-American Bowl selection from Dwyer High School in West Palm Beach, Fla., will attend Sunday's season finale race and will be recognized on stage during prerace ceremonies. A nationally-ranked tight end and linebacker, Christian has verbally committed to play at the University of Florida. Other south Florida area high school stalwarts who have been selected to play in the upcoming U.S. Army All-American Bowl are: Brandon Linder and Michael Palardy, Saint Thomas Aquinas High School, Ft. Lauderdale; Ivan McCartney, Miramar High School, Miramar; Jaylen Watkins, Cape Coral High School, Cape Coral; and Matt Elam also of Dwyer High School in West Palm Beach.(US Army Racing), see an image of the scheme on my #39 Team Schemes page.(11-17-2009)

    • Special 'Cup Cake' scheme for Ambrose for final three races: Little Debbie Racing's Marcos Ambrose will be driving the #47 Little Debbie Chocolate Cupcake Toyota in the final three races of the 2009 Sprint Cup season: Texas, Phoenix and Homestead (Little Debbie Flickr page), the scheme was designed by NASCAR artist Sam Bass. See images of the car on my #47 Team Schemes page.(11-6-2009)

    • Farm Bureau Insurance to sponsor JGR for 6 races: Joe Gibbs Racing announced that the Farm Bureau Insurance Companies will serve as the primary sponsor for six Sprint Cup Series races during the 2009 season. Farm Bureau Insurance will be carried on the #11 Toyota driven by Denny Hamlin twice during the upcoming season including:
      May 9 race at Darlington
      September 6 race at Atlanta
In addition Farm Bureau Insurance will be on the #20 Toyota driven by Joey Logano at the:
October 25 race at Martinsville. Both FedEx and The Home Depot will still be represented on their respective cars at each of those races.
Farm Bureau Insurance will also sponsor a fourth JGR entry [#02-David Gilliland] at three races in 2009 on the #02 Toyota at the:
      October 17 Charlotte race
      November 8 Texas race
November 22 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series finale at Homestead.
The driver for those three races will be announced later. “Farm Bureau Insurance has been an outstanding partner with us and we’re thrilled to have them on these six Cup races this year,” said Joe Gibbs Racing President J.D. Gibbs. “We were able to generate a lot of excitement for them last year and we’ll work hard this year to provide their agents, members and customers a program to be proud of now in our Cup program.”(JGR PR)

See some special Sept. 2001 Dover Paint Schemes on my
Terrorist Attacks - How the Drivers, Teams, NASCAR, fans are Helping out page

And some 9/11 images and photos on my 9/11 Rememerance Page

    Some Page Notes

    1. Why were all story/column/article links moved to their own page back in August 2001?
Simple - The main page was getting huge, took too long to load, and was getting cluttered.
PLUS, I now have more room to play with and can leave the last two or three day's
worth of story links up and some old ones that seem important or are helpful/interesting

    2. No guarantee that the links work as sites move pages/links, reuse the link or remove them after a certain amount of time

    3. Some of these links have a short lifespan (a day, a week, a month....)

    4. Links usually posted in alphabetical order by site, current race location links at top.

    5. Story links added all through the day, usually done by noonish, unless I sleep in.

    6. Normally only link stories/columns that have their own page, not a site's main page (but hey, nothing is normal at Jayski's)

    7. Easy to tell what links you have visited earlier (depending on how you have your browser [Netscape/Explorer, etc] set up:

      NON-VISITED LINK IS BLUE and

      VISITED LINK IS GREEN

    8. If you do not see a column/story link here, and it was from a few days ago, go below and choose a dated page for past story links

    9. send any column links that you DO NOT see on this page or a past page to me, email address is on my FAQ(Frequently Asked Questions)/EMAIL Link Page

    10. and finally...a very IMPORTANT: The opinions expressed in any editorial/article linked on the site are not of the Jayski site
but are presented in the interest of giving readers a variety of points of views and some enjoyment.
Questions about their content or objections to those opinions should be directed towards the author of the article or the site that posts it.
