Miccosukee to sponsor #37 at Homestead: SPEED's Hermie Sadler reported on NASCAR Live that #37-Travis Kvapil will carry the colors of Miccosukee Indian Gaming & Resort as the car normally sponsored by Miccosukee failed to qualify for the race when David Streem spun on his qualifying lap Friday for the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.(11-21-2009)
Final race for Jack Daniel's in NASCAR MORE...image: After five years of partnership, Jack Daniel's announced in September they would be discontinuing their NASCAR sponsorship with the conclusion of this weekend's race. In honor of their association with Richard Childress Racing, Jack Daniel's has placed the name of every driver, crew member and administrative person who was part of their program at RCR on the hood of this weekend's #07 Chevy that Casey Mears drives. This will be the last time fans can purchase Jack Daniel's souvenirs from the #07 merchandise trailer. And, Mears will be making his final autograph appearance there on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 12:15pm/et and Mears will make his "last call" at the Jack Daniel's Experience on the same day at 12:00pm/et.(RCR)(11-19-2009)
MORE: Leave it to Jack Daniel’s to come up with a personal touch for their finale as primary sponsor for Richard Childress Racing’s #07 Chevy this weekend in Homestead-Miami Speedway. Just like Jasper Newton “Jack” Daniel personally made sure his recipe for Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 was always carried out by human touch. After five seasons with RCR, Jack Daniel’s and the people of parent company Brown-Forman wanted to show their appreciation in a very personal way for this weekend’s race in South Florida. So, they placed the names of everyone who worked on the program since partnering with RCR in 2005 right on the hood of the #07 Jack Daniel’s Chevy. Drivers, crew chiefs, crew members and administration personnel are all being honored with approximately 140 names placed all around the words “Jack” and “Thanks” on the hood. “The last five years in the sport has been fun and exciting, to say the least,” said Dave Stang, Assistant Vice President of Brand Awareness for Jack Daniel’s. “It took a ton of people, and all those fantastic fans, to help Jack get its responsible drinking message communicated throughout the USA and beyond. We recognize them all with this little token of appreciation, Jack would be proud.” During their time with RCR in NASCAR, three drivers drove the #07 Jack Daniel’s Chevrolet. Dave Blaney in 2005, Clint Bowyer 2006 to 2008 and Casey Mears in 2009, who collectively earned two victories, two pole awards, 21 top-five and 61 top-10 finishes.(RCR), see an image of the hood on my #07 Team Schemes page.(11-19-2009)
#39 to feature U.S. Army All-American Bowl: The hood of Ryan Newman's #39 U.S. Army/Haas Automation Chevy for Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Homestead-Miami Speedway will showcase the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, an annual football game featuring the nation's top 90 high school seniors. The 10th anniversary U.S. Army All-American Bowl is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The all-star classic -- East vs West match-up -- will be televised live on NBC, 1:00pm/et. The U.S. Army All-American Bowl alumni include many current NFL and college standouts including Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings), Chad Henne and Ted Ginn Jr. (Miami Dolphins), Reggie Bush (New Orleans Saints), Vince Young (Tennessee Titans), Mark Sanchez (New York Jets), Tim Tebow (University of Florida Gators), Terrell Pryor (Ohio State Buckeyes), Demarco Murray (Oklahoma Sooners) and Jimmy Clausen (Notre Dame Fighting Irish). Gerald Christian, a U.S. Army All-American Bowl selection from Dwyer High School in West Palm Beach, Fla., will attend Sunday's season finale race and will be recognized on stage during prerace ceremonies. A nationally-ranked tight end and linebacker, Christian has verbally committed to play at the University of Florida. Other south Florida area high school stalwarts who have been selected to play in the upcoming U.S. Army All-American Bowl are: Brandon Linder and Michael Palardy, Saint Thomas Aquinas High School, Ft. Lauderdale; Ivan McCartney, Miramar High School, Miramar; Jaylen Watkins, Cape Coral High School, Cape Coral; and Matt Elam also of Dwyer High School in West Palm Beach.(US Army Racing), see an image of the scheme on my #39 Team Schemes page.(11-17-2009)
Special 'Cup Cake' scheme for Ambrose for final three races: Little Debbie Racing's Marcos Ambrose will be driving the #47 Little Debbie Chocolate Cupcake Toyota in the final three races of the 2009 Sprint Cup season: Texas, Phoenix and Homestead (Little Debbie Flickr page), the scheme was designed by NASCAR artist Sam Bass. See images of the car on my #47 Team Schemes page.(11-6-2009)
Farm Bureau Insurance to sponsor JGR for 6 races: Joe Gibbs Racing announced that the Farm Bureau Insurance Companies will serve as the primary sponsor for six Sprint Cup Series races during the 2009 season. Farm Bureau Insurance will be carried on the #11 Toyota driven by Denny Hamlin twice during the upcoming season including:
May 9 race at Darlington
September 6 race at Atlanta
In addition Farm Bureau Insurance will be on the #20 Toyota driven by Joey Logano at the:
October 25 race at Martinsville. Both FedEx and The Home Depot will still be represented on their respective cars at each of those races.
Farm Bureau Insurance will also sponsor a fourth JGR entry [#02-David Gilliland] at three races in 2009 on the #02 Toyota at the:
October 17 Charlotte race
November 8 Texas race
November 22 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series finale at Homestead.
The driver for those three races will be announced later. “Farm Bureau Insurance has been an outstanding partner with us and we’re thrilled to have them on these six Cup races this year,” said Joe Gibbs Racing President J.D. Gibbs. “We were able to generate a lot of excitement for them last year and we’ll work hard this year to provide their agents, members and customers a program to be proud of now in our Cup program.”(JGR PR)

USG returns to sponsor #17 at Phoenix: The #17 Ford of Matt Kenseth will carry the blue and red colors of USG Sheetrock for the third and final time this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway. This week’s car will be The #17 USG SHEETROCK Ford promoting the DUROCK cement board Next Gen logo (RFR). See images of the regular USG scheme on my #17 Team Schemes page.(11-12-2009)
“Luckiest Dog” to adorn the #18 car: A special guest will ride along with #18-Kyle Busch for Sunday’s Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway courtesy of primary sponsor Pedigree, as an image of “Kasey,” a four-year-old rescue dog, will adorn on Busch’s #18 Pedigree Toyota. Proud owners Joan and Charles Petit of Kellar, Texas, submitted the winning entry for Pedigree’s “Luckiest Dog” contest and will be treated to a three-day/two-night trip to the race, where they’ll see their four-legged friend’s face turning laps around the mile oval in-person. As the Pedigree Racing driver treks further West for this weekend’s festivities, he’s hoping – unlike was the case at Texas – that Kasey the rescue dog makes him the “Lucky Dog” that brings home his second Sprint Cup win at Phoenix and finish the job he started a week earlier.(JGR)(11-12-2009)
PVA.org colors on #43 at Phoenix: Reed Sorenson drives the #43 Paralyzed Veterans of America Dodge at Phoenix International Raceway this weekend. The Paralyzed Veterans of America and radio station AM570 KLAC – Los Angeles, Calif. are holding a “Help a Hero” radio campaign on Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 3 p.m. – 2 a.m. (eastern). 13-Year-Old Girl from Aflac Cancer Center Designs Carl Edwards’ Car: On September 6th, at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the #99 Aflac Ford Fusion will sport a colorful new look inspired by a 13-year-old patient at the Aflac Cancer Center. Aflac invited children at the Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Service to “Color Carl’s Car” for the Labor Day weekend race. The chosen paint scheme, submitted by Jody Lawrence of Greensboro, Georgia, was selected among 54 other entries as part of Aflac’s month-long effort to generate awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. All of the children’s drawings will be featured on the pit wall banner for the #99 race team. Edwards will wear a matching fire suit and a white helmet signed by children at the Aflac Cancer Center. People can join the fight against pediatric cancer by donating to the Aflac Cancer Center (ACC) through the Aflac Cancer Center causes page which can be accessed on Facebook.com or at aflac.com/aflaccancercenter. Aflac will contribute one dollar for anyone who joins the ACC causes page and will match donations up to $1 million.
Aflac Chairman and CEO Dan Amos kicked off the campaign by making a personal donation of $100,000 and challenged others to contribute to the fight against childhood cancer. Carl Edwards responded to this challenge by announcing on Facebook that he will donate his portion of the winnings from Sunday’s race to the Aflac Cancer Center.
Aflac is also engaging NASCAR fans in the fight against childhood cancer through a text donation program which will run throughout the month of September. The NASCAR community can simply text “GoCarl” to 90999 using any carrier, to donate $5 per text, with charges appearing on customers’ wireless bill. The NASCAR Foundation will match texted donations up to $10,000.
Childhood cancer is Aflac’s primary philanthropic commitment and the number one cause of death by disease for young people under the age of 15. However, due to increased and improved research and treatment, since the 1980s, childhood cancer survival rates have improved from less than 20% to over 80% today.
“This is a wonderful campaign and a great example of how Aflac continues to support childhood cancer treatment and research,” said Carl Edwards, driver of the #99 Aflac Ford Fusion. “I am proud to be a part of this effort.”
“Aflac is combining our passion for fighting childhood cancer with our NASCAR sponsorship of Carl Edwards to raise money and awareness for a great cause,” said Paul Amos II, Aflac President and Chief Operating Officer. “By showcasing Jody’s compelling story we hope to inspire NASCAR fans to help raise funds and support the research and treatment that takes place everyday at the Aflac Cancer Center.”
As an additional program element, Aflac has teamed up with Motorsports Authentics to create a special die cast car, featuring the special paint scheme, which was sold on QVC and is still available online at nascarsuperstore.com. As part of the initiative, five percent of all profits from the die cast sales will be donated to the Aflac Cancer Center.(RFR/Aflac), see images of thew scheme on my #99 Team Schemes page.(9-6-2009)
