No Bull Fan: been asked, where was the No Bull Five fan winner? It took a while to get Earnhardt's partner, Carrie Richter of Conneaut, Ohio, notification of her prize. In most cases, the individuals paired with the drivers attend the races, but due to circumstances beyond her control, Richter couldn't attend. That created a problem. When the race ended at approximately 3:23 p.m., Winston officials were not able to reach Richter. At 3:30 p.m., still no Richter. And at 4:00 p.m., it was the same deal. It wasn't until around 4:30 p.m. that Richter was reached via phone from the infield media center. Richter indicated she would take her winnings and purchase a small farm for her and her two children.(Anniston Star)(10-22-2001)

No Bull 5 pairings and 2002 plans UPDATE: R.J. Reynolds officials have a news conference scheduled for Tuesday in Charlotte to pair drivers and fans for the next No Bull 5 race at Talladega on Oct. 21 and to announce plans for the No Bull 5 program and The Winston in 2002. The Winston all-star race will return to Lowe's Motor Speedway on May 18, and the same five races will be in the No Bull 5 program next year - Las Vegas in March, Charlotte in May, Daytona in July, Richmond in September and Talladega in October.(That's Racin')(10-7-2001)
UPDATE: Rusty Wallace's pit crew turned in the fastest time for a four-tire change on The Square in Uptown Charlotte at midday Tuesday, topping the crews for Dale Earnhardt Jr., Dale Jarrett, Ricky Rudd and Kevin Harvick. Those results were used to pair the eligible drivers with fans for the No Bull 5 program for the EA Sports 500 at Talladega on Oct. 21. Fans from California, Maryland, Ohio, Texas and Missouri are eligible to win $1 million if their driver wins that race. The winning driver would also get $1 million. R.J. Reynolds officials also confirmed that next year's No Bull 5 races will be March 3 at Las Vegas, May 26 at Lowe's Motor Speedway, July 6 at Daytona, Sept. 7 at Richmond and Oct. 6 at Talladega - the same lineup as this year.(That's Racin'), no names of the 5 fans...yet(10-10-2001)

No Bull Fans Chosen for Richmond UPDATE: Five more race fans have been selected for a chance at a $1 million prize as part of the fourth installment of Winston's "No Bull 5" driver/fan bonus program. The next "No Bull" race is the Sept. 8 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 400 at Richmond. The eligible drivers are the top-five finishers from the Pepsi 400 at Daytona in July: #8-Dale Earnhardt, Jr., #15-Michael Waltrip, #21-Elliott Sadler, #22-Ward Burton and #18-Bobby Labonte, who will be making his 10th attempt at the Winston No Bull 5 million-dollar bonus. The eligible fans were selected from the nationwide Winston No Bull 5 "They Win, You Win" Sweepstakes. The eligible fans are Doris DeBerry of Savannah, TN.; Sharon Bauer of Peoria, IL.; Eric Wolf of Peotone, IL.; Allen Fitch of Hamptonville, NC; and Joseph Brennan of Eufaula, AL. The drivers and fans will be paired Thursday night at NASCAR Speedpark in Myrtle Beach S.C. The five drivers will compete in a 10-minute go-kart race to determine the pairing. The race will be carried live on ESPN2's RPM2Night at 7:00pm/et. One of the five eligible Winston No Bull 5 drivers will travel to Savannah on Tuesday for a luncheon with DeBerry and 25 friends. No Bull 5 at the Pepsi 400 UPDATE the Pairings: The third Winston No Bull 5 event of the 2001 season is the Pepsi 400 at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, July 7, 2001. Five eligible drivers have the chance to earn a $1 million bonus by winning the Pepsi 400. If a qualified driver wins, one fan will also become a millionaire as part of the Winston No Bull 5 "They Win, You Win" fan sweepstakes. The fans are selected through this nationwide program and are randomly paired with one of the eligible drivers prior to the race. The five eligible drivers for the Pepsi 400 are the top-five finishers from the second Winston No Bull 5 event of the season, the Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway near Charlotte. The five drivers are Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, Mark Martin and Bobby Labonte. The Winston No Bull 5 fan / driver pairing is set for 11 a.m. on Friday, July 6th in Daytona Beach. The five eligible teams will compete in a beach volleyball tournament at The Ocean Deck. The drivers will coach the teams. The finishing order from the tournament will determine which fans will be paired with which drivers. - The volleyball tournament scheduled for 11:00am/et, at the Ocean Deck with drivers eligible for the No Bull 5 bonus won't include drivers because of qualifying being delayed until today. UPDATE: Elaine Beatty of Salemburg, NC will be pulling for Bobby Labonte in Saturday night's Pepsi 400. That's because Beatty would win $1 million in Winston's No Bull 5 contest if Labonte wins the race. Labonte and Jeff Gordon have each been eligible a record nine times for the bonus, but while Gordon has won it four times Labonte has yet to cash in. The driver also wins a $1 million bonus for winning the race. Donald Arp of Orlando is paired with Mark Martin. UPDATE: Dale Earnhardt's death last weekend in the Daytona 500 will produce a change in the drivers eligible for the first "No Bull 5" Winston Cup race of the season, the March 4 UAW-DaimlerChrsyler 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Earnhardt was one of five drivers - the others are Kenny Wallace, Joe Nemechek, Jeff Gordon and Terry Labonte - eligible for a $1 million bonus should they win the Las Vegas race. A race fan is paired with each driver and also wins $1 million if their driver wins the race. Each eligible driver finished in the top five in last October's Talladega race to qualify, with Earnhardt winning the race. Officials with R.J. No Bull 5 News: The R.J. Reynolds Tobacco folks have added a yet another perk to their annual Winston No Bull 5 promotion and that’s already made Rodney Mims of Clanton, AL a winner. Mims’ name was one of the five drawn for the first 2001 No Bull 5 event, the UAW-Daimler Chrysler 400 at Las Vegas on March 4. And since his was the first name drawn in the lottery, Mims and 24 friends will get to meet one of the No Bull 5-eligible drivers at a party in Birmingham, AL on February 21. The eligible drivers are Dale Earnhardt, Kenny Wallace, Joe Nemechek, Jeff Gordon and Terry Labonte — the top five finishers in last October’s Diehard 500 at Talladega. No Bull 5 Contest allowed in VA: Next season, state residents will be allowed to enter the Winston-brand "No Bull 5" million-dollar bonus contest. R.J. Reynolds had banned Virginians, believing state law prohibited them from entering the contest. After holding one of the bonus races at Richmond last season, company officials learned state residents were legally eligible. "The Virginia residents are eligible as long as they follow all applicable state laws, which, as we understand it, means that they will not be able to pick up an entry blank in stores in Virginia to enter," R.J. Reynolds spokesman Rick Sanders said. "They can pick those up in other states, and we also will have direct marketing programs they'll be allowed to enter at the track." No purchase is required. Fans can enter the contest and wait on a drawing that determines the five contestants. These winners are flown to one of the five selected races and paired with the five qualified drivers. New No Bull Race in 2001 UPDATE 3: Officials with RJ Reynolds Tobacco. Co. have decided to keep the same five venues for its Winston Cup series $1 million driver bonus program next season, but will use the July night race at Daytona rather than the season-opening Daytona 500 as one of its five races. The move will make the first "No Bull 5" event of next season the Las Vegas race in March; followed by the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte in May; the July Daytona race; the September race at Richmond; and the October race at Talladega(That's Racin')(10-9-2000)
UPDATE: it's official - Next year’s No Bull Five will include races at Las Vegas, Charlotte, Daytona, Richmond and Talladega, but it will not include the Daytona 500. No Bull 2001: so the next No Bull Five event is at Las Vegas in March of 2001. The drivers will be: Dale Earnhardt, Kenny Wallace, Joe Nemechek, Jeff Gordon and Terry Labonte. So what happens to Wallace, who is moving to the #27 Eel River Racing Pontiac in 2001? Since the No Bull Five is a drivers promotion, no a team, Wallace will be running for the million bucks, the #55 team will not be. How it works:
No Bull Five returns: The No Bull 5 driver bonus program continues for 2001. The program allows five eligible drivers - each matched with a fan - to win a $1 million bonus should they win at five different tracks during the season. This season, those races are the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400, Coca-Cola 600, Pepsi 400, Richmond 400 and Talladega 500. Instead of "one man, one race, one shot, one million", the Winston Million in 1998 became the Winston No Bull 5 and continued in 1999, 2000 and will once more in 2001. The Winston No Bull 5 offers a total of $5 million to drivers, paid in possible $1 million pay-outs in 5 different events in 2001.

The first 5 drivers have already qualified by finishing in the top 5 of the Winston 500 (Oct 2000). If any of these drivers wins the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 in Las Vegas 2001, they win $1 million bucks! This is a driver deal, if the driver switches team before the next No Bull 5 event, the driver goes for the $1 million, not the team.

THE RULES:

Drivers become eligible to win the $1 million Winston No Bull 5 bonus by finishing in the top-five at the previous Winston No Bull 5 event. The five races comprising the Winston No Bull 5 in 2001 are, in chronological order: the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 (March 4); the Coca-Cola 600 (May 27) at Charlotte; the Pepsi 400 (July 7); the Chevy Monte Carlo 400 at Richmond (Sept. 8); and the ? 500 (Oct. 21) at Talladega.
Eligible drivers at a particular Winston No Bull 5 event can win the Winston No Bull 5 million-dollar bonus by finishing first in said event.
If all five qualified drivers fail to capture the $1 million Winston No Bull 5 bonus at a particular Winston No Bull 5 event, the bonus will not roll over to the next event. Each Winston No Bull 5 event is worth $1 million to the qualified drivers.
If a qualified driver wins a Winston No Bull 5 event, one fan will also win a $1 million bonus check as part of Winston's "They Win, You Win" sweepstakes. Five fans will be eligible at each Winston No Bull 5 event. They will be selected at random through a nationwide sweepstakes program, then each will be paired, at random, with one of the eligible Winston No Bull 5 drivers. If an eligible driver wins the Winston No Bull 5 bonus, then the fan paired with that driver will also win a $1 million check from Winston.
