who moved up the farthest from their starting spot and who fell the farthest
and all between, for the last race and the season
This page shows the difference for each driver between their start and finish for the latest race and the season. The season uses average STARTING Position and average FINISHING Position
This page uses the OFFICIAL Starting spot of the driver, if the driver wrecks the car in practice or a different driver starts the car and has to fall to the rear of the starting field, it is NOT shown or noted here. For instance, #24-Gordon qualified 8th but wrecked in Happy Hour at Talladega in 2000, he had to go to the back of the field, but he is still shown as starting 8th
EXAMPLE: If Jeff Gordon starts 8th and finishes 4th, the difference is a +4. If Gordon starts 5th and finishes 9th then the difference is a -4. For the season, if a driver's average start is 17.8 and average finish is 20.1, the difference is a -2.3 positions.
