Race Comments:  Before an estimated crowd of 88,000, Jeff Gordon won the Subway 500, posting his 63rd career victory. Prior to the green flag the following drivers dropped to the rear of the field, under penalty, for the reasons indicated: #88 Jarrett (backup); #54 Bodine (backup).
