Race Comments:  Before an estimated crowd of 80,000, Ryan Newman posted his series leading eighth victory of 2003; his ninth NASCAR Winston Cup victory. Prior to the green flag the following drivers, under penalty, dropped from their original starting positions to the rear of the field for the reasons indicated: #48 Johnson (backup car); #25 Nemechek (engine change).
