Race Comments: Before an estimated crowd of 175,000, Jeff Gordon won the Pepsi 400, posting his 68th career NASCAR NEXTEL Cup victory. Prior to the green flag, the following drivers, under penalty, dropped from their original starting positions to the rear of the field for the reasons indicated: #0 Ward Burton (back-up car); #99 Jeff Burton (engine change) and #9 Kasey Kahne (back-up car).
