Race Comments: Before an estimated crowd of 140,000, Mark Martin won the MBNA 400, posting his 34th career NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race. The race was red flagged on Lap 348 for 19 minutes and 23 seconds and on Lap 383 for 19 minutes and 39 seconds. Prior to the green flag the following drivers; under penalty, dropped from their original starting positions to the rear of the field for the reasons indicated: #15 Michael Waltrip (backup car); # 94 Stanton Barrett (engine change); #16 Greg Biffle (backup car); #17 Matt Kenseth (engine change); #89 Morgan Shepherd  (backup car).
