Race Comments: Before an estimated crowd of 140,000, Jimmie Johnson won the UAW-GM Quality 500, posting his 11th career NASCAR NEXTEL Cup victory. On Lap 24 the race was red-flagged (12 mins., 12 secs.) to repair the SAFER barrier on the frontstretch. Prior to the green flag, the following drivers, under penalty, dropped from their original starting positions to the rear of the field for the reasons indicated: # 99-Dave Blaney (driver change); #42-Jamie McMurray (backup). Carl Edwards replaced Blaney in the #99 on lap 23.
