Race comments: Before an estimated crowd of 105,000, Kurt Busch won the Subway Fresh 500, posting his 12th NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series victory. On Lap 142 the race was red-flagged (6 minutes, 29 seconds) for track clean-up. Prior to the green flag, the following drivers, under penalty, dropped to the rear of the field for the reasons indicated: #37 Kevin Lepage (engine change); #7 Robby Gordon (engine change); #4 Mike Wallace (unapproved impound adjustment).
