·          HERE COMES CARL:  A stout win at Dover moved Carl Edwards up 61 points and in early strong contention for the championship.  “Flip” will be one of the favorites at Kansas and could move into the Chase lead on Sunday.

·          QUIET DAY FOR THE BIG THREE:  Although they avoided disaster, the Big Three of Jeff Gordon (11^th), Tony Stewart (9^th) and Jimmie Johnson (14^th) struggled, but Matt Kenseth, Kurt Busch and Denny Hamlin had disastrous finishes.
