ท          08 RACE TO THE CHASE TIES “MOVING” RECORD:  The record for consecutive race changes in the Chase field during the final 13 races of the first 26, is six straight, set in 2005. With Matt Kenseth dropping out and Clint Bowyer bouncing back in at Pocono, that record has been tied and could be broken with another change in the T12 at Watkins Glen.  Last year saw the least amount of races where the Chase field changed over the final 13, only two.  2005 takes the prize for the most field changes in the final 13, at 11.

ท          EIGHT FIGHTING FOR SIX SPOTS?  Places 7-12 are still very much at risk, and we might be down to two serious contenders outside the T12, Matt Kenseth and David Ragan. Watkins Glen will be another big test for Ragan, who has had a very solid sophomore season, but was 32^nd at W-G last year. Kasey Kahne probably is sweating it out this weekend as well, with a 22^nd and 26^th the last two times out at The Glen.

ท          VICKERS NOW WITH A BIG MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB:   Brian Vickers and the #83 team’s got caught on pit stop rotation at Pocono and two straight tough races now has the Red Bull team 203 points out in 16^th place. It will take a mighty charge to get back into legitimate contention.
