NOTES:

 

·          EIGHT DRIVERS IN “DANGER ZONE,” MOST IN CHASE HISTORY --  Carl Edwards is in fifth place in the Sprint Cup standings, but is far from safe. From Edwards (+109) on down to 12^th place Juan Pablo Montoya (+1), eight members of the T12 in all are within the one race margin of dropping out of the standings. In fact, 14^th place David Reutimann could rise all the way to fifth if things fell his way at Daytona Saturday night. This is the most spots up for grabs at the 17-race mark in the six-year history of The Race to the Chase.

·          MORE WOES FOR RCR:  Jeff Burton’s fall from the T12 has been sudden and brutal. His 31^st at N.H. dropped him another spot Sunday. He’s now lost eight spots in five races and is now 108 points out in 16^th place. Clint Bowyer lost more ground with a 20^th and it is probably safe to count Kevin Harvick out of making his fourth straight Chase as he is now 451 points out in 27^th place.

·          KURT LOOKING TO RETURN PENSKE TO THE CHASE:  Kurt Busch’s solid third at Loudon moved him to 206 points ahead of 13^th place and gives him some breathing room. The #2 is running consistently good and looks like a good bet to make the 09 Chase.

·          T12 BY OWNERS:  Stewart-Haas 2 of 2 (100%), Hendrick 3 of 4 (75%), Gibbs 2 of 3 (66%), Roush 3 of 5 (60%), Earnhardt/Ganassi 1 of 2 (50%) Penske 1 of 3 (33%).
