·          WHEN 13^TH WINS, EVERYBODY LOSES GROUND: Mark Martin’s dramatic win at Chicagoland brought a lot of teams back to the “danger zone” in the ’09 Race to the Chase.  Carl Edwards’ 14^th dropped him 63 points closer to 13^th, but he still has a relatively comfortable 153-pt margin for now. More adverse was Khyle B usch’s 33^rd, which dropped him 120 points and left him only 13 points ahead of 13^th. Matt Kenseth’s 23^rd lost him 90 precious points, and the #17’s bid to join Jimmie Johnson as the only two teams to make all six Chases is now looking shaky, with only 10 points separating 12^th place Kenseth from 13^th place Greg Biffle. Biffle’s 31^st dropped him from 9^th all the way out of the T12.

·          REUTIMANN, JPM GOING OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS:  Juan Pablo Montoya’s amazingly consistent run for The Chase continues. JPM’s 10^th at Chicagoland gained him two more positions in the standings to 9^th. Montoya has gained six spots while scoring 704 points over the last five races while David Reutimann has scored 518 points and lost three positions over the same period. Reutimann is now 76 points out of the T12, and needs a good run at Indy to get in closer touch with the Chase field.

·          T12 BY OWNERS:  Stewart-Haas 2 of 2 (100%), Hendrick 3 of 4 (75%), Gibbs 2 of 3 (66%),  Earnhardt/Ganassi 1 of 2 (50%) Roush 2 of 5 (40%), Penske 1 of 3 (33%), Petty 1 of 3 (33%).
