Race Comments: Before an estimated crowd of 100,000, Reutimann won the 50th running of the Coca-Cola 600. The race was postponed from May 24 due to rain. (Note: May 24 estimated attendance was 160,000.) Prior to the start, the No. 36 dropped to the rear of the field due to an engine change. There were three red flag periods: 57:37 at Lap 74 due to rain; 1:21 at Lap 166 for Memorial Day's National Moment of Silence; 20:30 at Lap 177 for rain.
