Gordon wins at Phoenix: #24-Jeff Gordon won the Subway Fresh Fit 500 (k) Sprint Cup Series race at Phoenix International Raceway for his first win in 66 races [his last points win was at Texas Motor Speedway in April 2009] and 83rd win of his career [which ties him with Cale Yarborough for 5th in all time in wins]. He led the most laps on the day, passed #18-Kyle Busch with 8 laps to go, and pulled away to win by more than a second.
Busch held onto finish 2nd, followed by #48-Johnson, #29-Harvick, #39-Newman, #4-Kahne, #14-Stewart, #22-Busch, #43-Allmendinger, and #88-Earnhardt, Jr.
Pole sitter #99-Edwards was involved in accident on lap 59 and finished 28th. There was a big wreck involving 13 cars on lap 67, causing the race to be red flagged for 14 minutes for track cleanup.
There were 28 lead changes among 12 leaders with 8 cautions for 43 laps.(2-27-2011)
