NEXT UP - SEASON IS OVER - THANK YOU:
$500+ to the Victory Junction Gang Camp Computer Lab.....Thanks
Jason finishes 3rd; $500 to Computer Fund: The 2005 Hardee's Summer Shootout Series was both memorable and trying. The season began with high hopes as we immediately scored a 5th place finish in round 1. That 5th place came with a lack of power, so we decided to buy a new motor to pick up speed for round 2. The second week brought a second place finish, which ended up being the best of the season. From week 3-week 7 the brand new motor brought nothing but trouble and it was eventually replaced by the worn out motor from round 1. Round 8 brought a renewed vigor to the team, and we began placing in the top 5 once again. Being outside the top 5 in points, we worked extremely hard to climb back in. Round 9 saw another top 5 finish which put us within reach of our top 5 goal for round 10. I drove the hardest race I ever have in that final round and led most of the race before eventually finishing 3rd. While disappointed from not winning, I realized that we had accomplished much more and for that I was extremely proud.
Through it all our team never lost sight of the real reason why we were racing so hard to win. It was not for the personal satisfaction, instead it meant that more money was being raised for the Victory Junction Gang Camp charity. Jay Adamcyzk and Jayski.Com helped support our racing efforts this season and we felt that it was necessary to give back to him and his goal of raising money for his namesake computer lab located at the Victory Junction Gang Camp. Through your efforts this season, approximately $500 will be donated to the camp to help sick children live out their dreams.
Thanks to our associate sponsors for this season including Turn 2 Collision and Zoom Signs. Also thanks to Action Performance, Goodyear, and Southwest Greens for their donations to the Victory Junction Gang Camp.(Jason Racing PR)(9-2-2005)
Jason finishes 3rd in the 10th and final round of the Summer Shootout: For 9 weeks the #19 Jayski.Com Bandolero team had been chasing a victory in the Hardee's Summer Shootout Series. Driver Jason Haynes was more determined than ever in the final round of the 10 week series. After a top 5 finish in round 9, the team decided to leave the car setup alone. Instead they focused on extracting every last bit of power from their lackluster motor.
As the green flag dropped for the Bandolero Outlaws 8 lap heat race, Jason quickly showed he had one of the cars to beat. With the help of teammate Artie Clever, Jason managed to hold on to the lead for the entire event and take his first heat race win of the season. The car was extremely loose throughout the short race so Crew Chief Kurt Deaton made a minor adjustment before the night's feature.
Spirits were up as the #19 Jayski.Com Bandolero took its spot on the grid. Jayski once again made it to the race track to take in the action with the rest of the #19 team. As the race started Jason wheeled the #19 around slower traffic until he eventually caught the leader. After only a few laps of working on the #15 of Artie Clever, Clever let Haynes have the top spot. As the laps clicked away the race got even more tense as another car began to chase the #19. The caution flag came out just as Jason was passed for the lead. However the race was not over yet and Haynes drove even harder on the ensuing restart. The efforts were not enough though, and the team came home with a 3rd place finish.
"It's been a hard 10 weeks. The series has been a range of emotions and tonight just brought them all out. I don't know whether to be happy, sad, proud, nervous, excited, angry or what right now. We all worked our butts off trying to win that race tonight, and it was exciting to be leading the race with that few laps to go. Everyone knows we are the fastest legal car on the circuit, and running legal for so long has just made me have to step up my driving to catch up. The important people in the sport recognize our accomplishments, and that's all that matters to me"
Special thanks this year to Jayski.Com, Zoom Signs, and Turn 2 Collision. Also thanks to Southwest Greens, Action Performance, and Goodyear who donated to the Victory Junction Gang Camp.
The #19 Jayski.Com car will not be in action the rest of this season as driver Jason Haynes attends college at the University of North Carolina @ Charlotte. Stay tuned for details regarding the future of the team.(8-21-2005)

Jason finished 4th with Jayski there: With only one week left in the Hardee's Summer Shootout Series, the #19 Jayski.Com Bandolero team has suddenly found themselves in the top 5 in championship standings. In Round 8, driver Jason Haynes brought home a 3rd place finish. Round 9 seemed to follow the same path.
Once again the team opted not to practice on Monday night. The #19 car was ready for it's Tuesday night showing, and so was driver Jason Haynes. Starting 3rd in the heat race, Haynes managed to stay near the front until a caution flag flew. The caution allowed for a double file restart which forced Jason to work his way back through traffic. He was still able to finish the 8 lap event in 3rd spot, which eventually became 2nd spot after technical inspection disqualified the winning car.
As the car was being prepared for the night's feature, Jayski showed up at the race track and enjoyed himself with the rest of the team. At the drop of the green flag, Jason kept himself in the top 5. As the laps ran on the car started to handle better and better. Haynes snuck in to 2nd place and was prepared to make a run at the leader when a caution flag fell. The caution flag once again required Jason to manage traffic. However the cars handling went away and Jason fell back to 4th at the checkered flag.
Special thanks again to Jayski.Com, Action Performance, Goodyear Auto Service Centers, and Southwest Greens for their donations to the Victory Junction Gang Camp. Also thanks to Kyle Beattie Racing for their help this summer.(Jason Racing PR)(8-15-2005)
Jason back to normal....finishes 3rd in Round 8: After five weeks of frustration and disappointment, everything seemed back to normal for the #19 Jayski.Com Bandolero team after Round 8 of the Hardee's Summer Shootout. The team was so confident about the problem being fixed that they decided not to practice on Monday night. The decision ensured that the #19 car would be ready to go on Tuesday night with only minor maintenance.
As the team arrived at the track they were greeted with news that fellow competitor Bruce Benson had been injured in a street car wreck. Benson was at the track later that night, but will not be behind the wheel of the Bandolero for weeks to come. Everyone on the team wishes Bruce the best in his recovery!
As heat races began so did the beating and banging. Jason Haynes pushed the pole sitter in to turn 1, but the #41 car was unable to handle the pressure and spun out. Haynes was forced to take evasisve maneuvers and knocked the toe out in the process. Not pleased with the incident, the team went back to work and made several front end adjustments attempting to correct the handling. The best news of the night was that the three friends of Jason Haynes, Artie Clever, and Duke Furr were all starting up front.
Thanks to a big wreck in the beginning stages of the Bandolero Outlaws feature which did not produce a yellow flag, Haynes, Clever, and Furr were able to jump out front together and lead most of the 20 lap race. Slipping back at the green, Haynes managed to work his way back from 6th spot up to 3rd by the drop of the checkers. It was a race that managed to go caution free.
Once again special thanks to Action Performance, Goodyear, and Southwest Greens for their donations to the Victory Junction Gang Camp. Also special thanks to Kyle Beattie Racing, Zoom Signs, and Turn 2 Collision.(8-8-2005)
Jason comes home 8th on a hot night - Round 7: Another Monday night practice session, another dose of mechanical gremlins. As temperatures approached 100 degrees mechanical problems were the last things that the #19 Jayski.com Bandolero team were wanting to deal with. However after fighting the same engine trouble for 4 weeks the team was running out of options within their control. It was decided after the first practice session that driver Jason Haynes would concentrate on getting the car to handle well, rather than on the motor issues.
On Tuesday morning the #19 Jayski.com car was brought to 600 Racing Inc. once again for their second attempt at fixing the ailing motor. Since all of the motors in the Bandolero series are sealed, the #19 team cannot work on the motor themselves. After 5 hours with the car and motor, everyone hoped the issues were solved and the #19 could get back to victory lane.
However the 8 lap Bandolero Outlaws heat race proved that not much had changed. Haynes started 6th and was not able to move up through the field as planned. He rode as best he could to capture a 5th place finish and his guaranteed 3rd place starting spot in the night's feature event. With the "fixed" motor now blowing oil and not up to pace, Crew Chief Kurt Deaton made the decision to put in another motor before the 20 lap feature. The heat took it's toll on both driver and team as sweat poured off of everyone's brow during the motor change.
Equipped with a better motor Jason Haynes was ready for action with his 3rd place starting spot. It was his best start of the year, and he quickly capitalized and took the lead for the Victory Junction Gang Camp. From lap 3 on however, he quickly fell back through the field with a loose right front heim joint. With the help of a choose restart Jason Haynes managed to hang on to an 8th place finish. Special thanks again to Jayski.Com, Action Performance, Goodyear Auto Service Centers, and Southwest Greens for their donations to the Victory Junction Gang Camp. Also thanks to Kyle Beattie Racing for their help this summer.(JAson Racing)(7-28-2005)
Wallace's - Father/Daughter race against each other at Lowe's Summer Shootout: History will be made Tuesday night [July 26] at Lowe's Motor Speedway as Mike Wallace [driver of the #4 Lucas Oil Chevy in Cup] will race for the first time against his daughter Chrissy during the Summer Shootout in the Thunder Roadsters race. Mike is filling in for Tom VanWingerden in his Legends car and Thunder Roadster as Tom is high in the owner points, but unable to attend the races Tuesday night. The Legends car is in the Masters division (Chrissy races in the Semi-Pro Legends division), but the Roadsters are in the same class. This one off opportunity will put father and daughter in the same race for the first time in history.(Motorsportslounge) Jayski Bandolero will be in action tonight as Jason Haynes go for a much needed victory in the #19 Jayaski.com/Victory Junction Bandolero. Vote for Jason: Speed51.com, a popular motorsports web site that covers short-track racing [run by Bob and Matt Dillner], is offering fans the opportunity to select the most popular driver in the Hardee's Summer Shootout at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
The online ballot, which can be accessed at www.speed51.com, features the top-20 drivers in each of the seven divisions of Legends Car, Bandolero and Thunder Roadster racing. Fan voting will determine a most popular driver in each of the three types of cars with the driver receiving the most votes claiming the overall award. Speed51.com will produce a complete web site for the overall winner, a prize valued at $4,500. The Hardee's Summer Shootout runs each Tuesday night through Aug. 16 on the frontstretch quarter-mile oval at Lowe's Motor Speedway. For information, call 1-800-455-FANS.(7-26-2005)
Beatin' and Bangin' in Round 6: Round 6 of the Hardee's Summer Shootout Series saw hot temperatures and hot tempers. The #19 Jayski.Com Bandolero driven by Jason Haynes was not exempt from the full moon antics of the Bandolero Outlaw division. Once again Haynes and team attended the Monday night practice session in hopes of finding a solution to their mechanical gremlins that have plagued them since Round 1. After one good session, the car was still not up to 100%. With minor changes to fix the problem the car then would not start at all. On Tuesday morning the car was brought to 600 Racing Inc. to fix the problem for Tuesday night's race. A faulty kill switch was found and replaced but the team was not certain that the entire problem was corrected. Thanks to some help from Kyle Beattie and Neal Cantor at Beattie Racing the car was finally ready to run again.
A good number draw put Jason Haynes and the #19 on the pole for the second of two heat races. He quickly jumped out to lead most of the race. However fighting an extremely tight race car and no power under throttle, he dropped back to finish 4th and collected his starting spot in the night's feature.
At the drop of the green flag for the 20 lap feature event, Jason Haynes pushed the outside pole sitter to the front and then followed closely behind in the opening laps. However with the car still too tight, he began slipping back until he was spun out in the middle of the field. The gaggle of cars behind him managed to all miss the #19 car, and Haynes kept on going without damage. On the restart Jason began racing aggressively to make his way back to the front. He was racing for a top 5 position when again he was spun out from behind. The ensuing "choose" restart allowed Haynes to rocket up to the outside line and pick up almost 5 positions and go back to where he was before the spin. With only a handful of laps left, Haynes steadily held on to 6th place and coming to the checkered flag made a move for 5th. As the two cars raced side by side down the frontstretch the #38 car turned hard left into Jason and slowed him up enough to steal the position.
"I don't understand it. First they complain and whine about how they keep getting wrecked, and then they just hit you out of nowhere……just turn dead left in to you. Hopefully the officials will start seeing the pattern and we won't have to worry about tearing our car up for no reason again." Said driver Jason Haynes following the race.
The #19 Jayski.Com Bandolero once again completed the entire race distance for the Victory Junction Gang Camp. Sponsors contributing include Action Performance, Goodyear, and Southwest Greens. Also special thanks to Kyle Beattie Racing, Zoom Signs, and Turn 2 Collision.(Jason Racing PR)
Jason 9th on July 12th, Round 5: Lady racer Dawn Eagens of Charlotte, N.C., started on the pole and charged to her first victory of the season in the 20-lap feature for the Lucas Oil Bandolero Outlaws. Eagens led early, but lost the point to Randy Spencer on lap eight. Two laps later, Eagens retook the lead and never looked back. Chris Morgan moved up from the sixth-starting spot to take second with Kara Clark making it two ladies the top three with a third-place effort. Team Jayski driver #19-Jason Haynes finished 9th in the 16 car field.
Results: Lucas Oil Bandolero Outlaws Feature (20 laps): 1. Dawn Eagens; 2. Chris Morgan; 3. Kara Clarke; 4. Randy Spencer; 5. Bruce Benson II; 6. Ashleigh Wilkins; 7. Duke Furr; 8. Ryan Salomon; 9. Jason Haynes; 10. Tim Kenner; 11. Charles Long Jr.; 12. Marcus Limehouse; 13. Robin Metdepenningen; 14. Eric Redmond; 15. Artie Clever; 16. Benny Mingo.(LMS PR)(7-13-2005) AND After two weeks of disappointment, the #19 Jayski.Com Bandolero was ready for sweet redemption. Driver Jason Haynes and crew decided to practice on Monday night to continue trying to dial the car in to the tricky Lowe's Motor Speedway 1/4 Mile. However the night was cut short due to heavy rain that swept through the Charlotte area. Haynes only drove one round of practice but it was enough to decide on a gear change. The change was never tested because of the wet weather, but the team was confident that it would benefit the #19 down the straightaway.
Tuesday was another hot day with high temperature and high humidity. Showers and thunderstorms loomed on the horizon all night long, but held off for the Bandolero Outlaws division heat race and feature. A good draw put Jason Haynes in third position for the drop of the green flag in the heat race. He quickly took the lead and held on for most of the event until a problem arose with the fuel system. Jason nursed the car home to a second place finish.
After the heat race Crew Chief Kurt Deaton found that the foam on the bottom of the fuel cell had deteriorated. The pieces of foam lodged themselves in the fuel lines causing the motor to struggle to stay running. The crew quickly rushed to put in a new fuel cell before the feature with rain approaching. With the problem hopefully solved, Jason took the #19 to the grid and claimed the 5th starting position.
As the green flag dropped Jason quickly realized that the fuel problem was much worse than originally thought. He dropped off the pace and managed to avoid numerous incidents. The car managed to still come home in 9th position and completed all of the laps for the Victory Junction Gang Camp(Jason Racing PR)
Rough Round 4 for Haynes: After a disappointing week 3 in which driver Jason Haynes got caught up in another driver's misfortune, the team looked to rebound in week 4 [July 5th]. After repairs were made to the #19 Jayski.Com Bandolero the team decided to practice on Monday night to make sure the car was right. All eyes pointed towards the #19 as one of the fastest cars in the Bandolero Outlaws division, and with an up front starting position because of being low in the point standings a win was surely within Jason Haynes' grasp.
On Tuesday night the first race up was an 8 lap heat race. Haynes started from the 5th position and quickly worked his way up through the field. The car was extremely tight which relegated Haynes to a 3rd place finish. This lined the #19 Jayski.Com Bandolero up in 6th place for the start of the feature.
With an extremely slow start to the feature event, Jason Haynes quickly tried to capitalize. However with a tight race car he slowly fell back through the field until an early caution flag. On the caution flag Haynes moved up to the outside line and showed his muscle. Once the field got spread out, he began to work on the #41 car going in to turn # 3. Although Jason had the position she did not see the bright #19 and sent Jason in to the grass. When he came back on to the race track he collided with the #41 and knocked the toe out. Even with the toe knocked out Jason still recovered to finish 11th. With the #19 car quickly falling back in the points race, it can only mean a better starting position in next week's round 5.
Thanks to all of the sponsors who have been donating so graciously to the Victory Junction Gang Camp. These include Action Performance, Goodyear and Southwest Greens. Also thanks to Turn 2 Collision and Zoom Signs.(7-9-2005)
Short night for Haynes, #19 Jayski Bandolero Team in week 3: The rain managed to hold off for Tuesday night's Hardee's Summer Shootout, however it turned out to be a short and disappointing night anyways. After last week's second place finish the #19 Jayski.Com Bandolero team decided not to practice on Monday night. The team did however change carburetors which caused a slight problem in the heat race. Jason Haynes drew the pole for the heat race but lost the lead early and even while fighting problems reeled in a second place finish. With a new carburetor on the car and ready to go, the team was ready to score their first victory of the season. Haynes played it safe in the first two laps, but got hung out to the outside groove on lap 3. A spinning car in front of the #19 forced driver Jason Haynes high enough on the race track to hit the wall. The impact was enough to bend the axle, break the chain and spoil a good night for the team. 3 laps total were completed but hopefully next week the #19 team can get back on track and rack up more donations for the Victory Junction Gang Camp.(Jason Racing PR)(6-29-2005)
Jayski Bandalero finishes 2nd in week 2: The beautiful North Carolina weather on Tuesday night prompted Jayski himself to come to the race track and support the #19 Jayski.Com Bandolero team in person. His appearance in turn caused the team to work even harder to bring home their first Hardee's Summer Shootout Series victory. On Monday night the team broke
in a brand new motor and showed just how fast they really were. The car continued to handle well through the corners, and with the added power the team looked forward to Tuesday night's feature event.
On Tuesday night, The Jayski Bandolero pit area was swarming with activity. Due to the draw, Jason Haynes started 5th in the first heat race for the Bandolero Outlaws Division. The track was very hot and slick so Jason took it easy on the #19, saving it's power for later that night when the track would have it's maximum grip. Even while being smooth Jason was able to hold on to a 3rd place finish.
An inversion put the #19 Jayski.Com Bandolero starting 9th in the 18 car field. Haynes once again showed his mastery of being patient, and slowly worked his way in to the top 5. A caution flag fell halfway through the event, which allowed the drivers to choose either the outside or inside lane. Now it was time to be aggressive as Jason Haynes jumped up to the outside lane which is not the
preferred groove at Lowe's Motor Speedway. On the restart Haynes followed two faster cars and worked his way up to 3rd spot. Eventually the leader was black flagged and it came down to Jason Haynes and last week's feature winner. Unfortunately a lap car spoiled the taste of victory for the #19 team and a second place finish was all Jason Haynes could muster.
"Tonight was just a great night for this #19 team. To have a sponsor like Jayski show up and really support us is great. It meant a lot to me personally to have Jayski come to the track and it made me drive that much harder. I really have to thank my Crew Chief Kurt Deaton for helping us out a bunch the past week with changing motors and tearing our axle apart in tech inspection after the race. Patience was really the key to our success tonight and I know we will be up front again next week!" said an exuberant Jason Haynes following the race.
Special thanks again to Jayski.Com, Action Performance, Goodyear Auto Service Centers, and Southwest Greens for their donations to the Victory Junction Gang Camp. Also thanks to Kyle Beattie Racing for their help this summer. AND: Jason Haynes brought the #19 Jayski Bandoleo 2nd after starting 9th [of 18] at the Lowe's Motor Speedway's Hardee's Summer Shootout on Tuesday. Jason slowly moved up thru the field, masterfully handling the restart by choosing the outside lane to make up some track position and was making a run at the leader, but was held up by a slower lapped car [#38] which delayed Jason's run at the leader until late, crossing the checkers a car length behind....nice job! Peg, Drew and Jenny joined me for my first ever viewing of the Summer Shootout, which started at 7:30pm/et and ended at 10:30pm/et with a nice run by the Thunder Roadsters [won by Kyle Beattie] and a wild CrashCar race. With a record 226 race cars in the pit area, only three of the eight feature races in the Amoco Ultimate-sponsored program went the scheduled 20-lap distance as numerous spins and minor accidents slowed the action. Fireworks will light up the sky during round three of the 10-week Hardee's Summer Shootout Tuesday night, June 28. Kicking off the area's Independence Day celebration, the Amoco Ultimate-sponsored program will include the seven regular divisions of Legends Car, Bandolero and Thunder Roadster racing along with the radical CRASHCars. Spectator gates opens at 5 p.m. with feature racing at 7:30. The fireworks extravaganza will follow the racing program at approximately 10:15 p.m. Call 1-800-455-FANS.(see full article and results of all the classes at lowesmotorspeedway.com.(6-22-2005)
Jayski Bandalero tonight at the 2nd Summer Shootout races at Lowe's Motor Speedway, past news and some pics on my #19 Jayski Bandolero page. Lowe's Motor Speedway hosts the 12th annual Hardee's Summer Shootout Series each Tuesday night from June 14 to August 16. In addition to a full program of Legends Car, Bandolero and Thunder Roadster racing, the Hardee's Summer Shootout includes special attractions, such as school bus races, spectator racing and fireworks. I may actually go tonight and check it out. Jason brought the #19 home 5th last week, got a new engine this week....watch out!(6-21-2005)
Jayski Bandolero gets a top 5: On a sunny 90 degree day in North Carolina, most people would love to stay inside and remain in the comfort of air conditioning. For 217 Hardee's Summer Shootout Series competitors comfort was the farthest thing from their minds. Driver Jason Haynes had only winning to think about as he opened up his 4th year in the 10 week series. This year there is even more at stake for the #19 Jayski.Com Bandolero Outlaws team as corporate sponsors are donating money to the Victory Junction Gang Camp / Jayski Computer Lab based on laps completed, races won, and the series championship. Sponsors already signed on include Southwest Greens, Action Performance and Goodyear/Gemini Auto Service of Charlotte.
20 cars were entered in the Bandolero Outlaws division Tuesday night, and the heat race lineups were based on a random draw. Luck sided with Jason as he was able to start 3rd in his respective race. For most of the 8 lap event he ran behind the leader picking and choosing his moves as the two quickly ran into lap traffic. Eventually Haynes was forced to the outside of a lap car which allowed the eventual feature winner to pass him. A 3rd place finish in the heat race allowed the #19 to start from the 4th position in the night's feature event due to a random inversion.
After all of the other Bandolero, Legends, and Thunder Roadster features were completed it was time for the Bandolero Outlaws to take center stage. Starting 4th, Jason Haynes quickly showed that the #19 Jayski.Com car was handling the best by making some daring moves through the corners. This included a 3 wide restart in which Jason came out ahead. Unfortunately the motor was not running at full song so other cars would pull away down the straightaways. However running in 6th on the white flag lap, the 5th place car spun out to avoid another wreck and Haynes picked up the spot. "A top 5 finish is a great confidence booster for the team! We certainly had the best handling car out there which is all thanks to my crew chief Kurt Deaton [will work for beer], but not enough motor to match. Next week we will have a new motor so we should be able to contend for the win no sweat!" Join us next Tuesday night (June 21) for Round 2 of the Hardee's Summer Shootout Series!(Jason Racing site)(6-16-2005)
Summer Shootout Race-A-Thon to Benefit Victory Junction Gang Camp/Jayski Computer Lab
As the 2005 Lowe's Motor Speedway Summer Shootout Series fast approaches, the #19 Bandolero Outlaws race team is gearing up for a season of giving. Jay Adamczyk, owner of the famed website Jayski.Com has agreed to support the team and driver Jason Haynes. In 2004, Jayski tried his hand at Bandolero racing, driving a car prepared by Haynes and the #19 race team. Since Jayski supports the efforts at the Victory Junction Gang Camp through his Jayski Computer Lab, the #19 team has put together some big plans to earn generous donations for the camp.
During the 10 week Summer Shootout, business sponsors can pledge financially to the camp. In exchange sponsors will receive decal placement and exposure on the Bandolero and Lowe's Motor Speedway. Companies will sponsor feature laps completed (minimum $1 per lap), feature wins ($200), and the series championship ($1,000). The maximum amount based on 20 lap features, would be $3,200. Companies already involved include Action Performance Co. and Goodyear Gemini Auto Service Centers of Charlotte. All of the proceeds from sponsors will go directly to the camp.
Founded by NASCAR driver Kyle Petty and his wife Pattie in honor of their late son Adam, Victory Junction is a year-round, multi-disease camp serving children from the Carolinas and Virginia. The camp provides sessions to children ages seven to fifteen with life-threatening illnesses. The Victory Junction Gang Camp has a racing theme that allows campers to begin their experience by entering the camp through a tunnel and crossing a starting line into the world of racing. Victory Junction's 75-acre site has more than 36 buildings, including a dining hall, gym, pool, theater, therapeutic equestrian center, arts and crafts center, race shop, and 16 camper cabins. The Victory Junction Gang Camp, a Proud Charity of NASCAR, will opened on June 20,2004 and is free to children and their families. For more information, visit www.victoryjunction.org.
