- Stanton Barrett opens NYC art gallery: NASCAR driver and Hollywood stuntman Stanton Barrett has opened an art gallery in lower Manhattan, but don’t drop in looking for photographs, paintings or sculptures of car crashes, stunts or other Hollywood-ish endeavors. In addition to the works of Barrett, the Stanton Barrett Art Gallery currently includes pieces from artists such as Meredith Ostrom, fashion photographer Walter Chin and Matty Thompson. Barrett, a second-generation racer with nearly 200 starts in NASCAR’s Cup and Nationwide series, says art is just one of many things that have held his interest. And opening his own gallery, he says, was a logical move.(Scene Daily)(12-15-2008)
- Stanton Barrett to the IRL? UPDATE: [IRL owner] Greg Beck's team is going full-time in the IndyCar Series in 2009 with NASCAR driver Stanton Barrett. Apparently, Barrett, who will be 36 in December, is going to keep his in-house stock car program going by running the Nationwide Series in the early and latter parts of next year.(Indianapolis Star)(9-26-2008)
UPDATE: Stanton Barrett plans to broaden his horizons next season, adding a full run in the IndyCar Series to his driving duties. Barrett, who competes on a part-time basis for Ski Motorsports in the Sprint Cup Series and for his own team (in a partnership with Ski) in the Nationwide Series, is not completely leaving stock cars, though. He says that he plans to participate in NASCAR's Cup season-opening Daytona 500 and its qualifying events and to continue to drive in 10 Nationwide races next season, in addition to running the full IndyCar schedule. He will compete for the Curb/Agajanian/Team 3G team in the IndyCar ranks and for Team 3G in the Nationwide. Barrett did not announce full primary sponsorship, but does have Interush.net, Phytter Phone, Curb Records and Grandstay.net as participating sponsors. He will drive Chevys in NASCAR.(Scene Daily)(9-27-2008)
- Barrett and the NOS Energy Drink Team to attempt 2 races at Dover: Coming out of nowhere, the NOS Energy Drink #30 car hurtled to a top-20 finish at 2007’s fall Dover Nationwide Series race. With that auspicious start boosting it forward, the NOS Energy Drink NASCAR program took off and raced forward into 2008 with a plan to be the leading energy drink in NASCAR. Now, with less than a third of the season remaining, the NOS NASCAR team revisits the track that began the journey last September. With a double dose of racing scheduled for the #30 and #50 cars, team driver Stanton Barrett knows that this weekend will be action packed. “I love Dover. It’s one of my favorite tracks, very fast and a good place to race” said Barrett. “Last season, we had a great first race for NOS at Dover - I’m looking forward to seeing everyone from NOS and FUZE out there supporting the team this weekend, just like last year.” Barrett has qualified very well at the Dover track over the course of his career, with two of his nine starts there in the NASCAR Nationwide Series coming from within the top-10. He’ll need to translate that success over to the Sprint Cup Series on Sunday, as the #50 NOS Energy Drink Chevy will be qualifying with the group of go-or-go-homers near the end of the order.(PR)(9-18-2008)
- Double the Fun for the NOS Energy Drink Team: As both a Hollywood stuntman and a NASCAR driver, performing double-duty is something that Stanton Barrett has grown accustomed to. But this weekend, the phrase takes on a new meaning for the NOS Energy Drink team driver as he pilots the #30 NOS Energy Drink car in the Nationwide Series Food City 250 as well as the #50 NOS Energy Drink machine in the Sprint Cup Series Sharpie 500, both at Bristol Motor Speedway. “I’m looking to have good qualifying runs with both the NOS Cup car and Nationwide Car this weekend,” said Barrett. “I love Bristol. It’s my favorite track and anytime we race here it shapes up to be one of the best weekends of the year.” Barrett has a special affinity for the short-track circuit as his first NASCAR start came back in 1992 in what is now known as the Nationwide Series at this very course. Coming along for the ride during both Friday and Saturday’s events will be Kroger Supermarkets, which will have a spot on the “C” pillar of both cars.(PR)(8-20-2008)
- Barrett to attempt to make Brickyard 400: This upcoming Sunday, the NOS Energy Drink team will head into Indy to attempt tp make the Allstate 400 race at The Brickyard. Piloting the #50 Chevy, team driver Stanton Barrett will look to erase the heartbreak of the Daytona 500 and Coca-Cola 600, where despite valiant efforts, the car failed to qualify for the main events. The Allstate 400 is the third of four Sprint Cup events that the SKI Motorsports NOS Energy Drink team plans to participate in this season. This will also be the first time since 1999 that Barrett has a chance to drive in a Sprint Cup event at one of the most legendary race tracks on earth, Indianapolis Motor Speedway. “The sheer number of fans at The Brickyard is always incredible,” said Barrett. “We’ve got a good car, a great engine, and I’m looking forward to qualifying on Saturday.”(SKI Motorsports PR)(7-25-2008)
- Stanton Barrett Hires His Dad to Drive at Mexico: In an apparently unprecedented move, Stanton Barrett has hired his 65-year-old father, Stan Barrett, to drive the SBM Motorsports #31 in this weekend’s Nationwide Series event in Mexico City. Stan Barrett, a former driver and Hollywood stuntman, will attempt to make the field for Sunday’s Corono Mexico 200 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City. The first man to break the speed of sound on the ground in 1979, will pilot the Stanton Barrett Motorsports #31 Chevy while his son, Stanton, will drive the team’s #30 entry.(SceneDaily.com), Stan Barrett has made 19 Cup starts with 2 top 10 finishes, his best being a 9th at Talladega in 1981, this will be Barrett's Nationwide Series debut.(4-16-2008)
- Ski Motorsports & NOS Energy Drink to compete in '08: SKI Motorsports and NOS Energy Drink have announced that they will team up to take on the Sprint Cup Series in 2008. Backed by innovative promotions and top-notch equipment, the team will attempt the Series most celebrated races next season-the Daytona 500, the Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway, the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, and the Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Driver for the #50-NOS Energy Drink/Ski Motorsports Chevy will be Stanton Barrett.(SKI Motorsports PR), the team has competed on a limited basis in the Busch Series over the last 2 years.(10-10-2007)
