- Front Row Motorsports buying #37 R&J Racing? UPDATE 2: hearing that Front Row Motorsports, who has three teams, the #34 with Kevin Lepage [which plans to run at least the first five races of the 2007 season], and the #61 and #92 teams that have no schedules or drivers yet for 2007, have bought out or into the #37 RJ Racing Dodge team. The #37 team plan to run Bill Elliott at Daytona in the Budweiser Shootout and Daytona 500, but after that plans have not been announced. Elliott did test the #37 Dodge at Las Vegas, which was listed as the #37 Front Row Motorsports Dodge.(2-4-2007)
UPDATE: hearing that #37 team over John Carter will still own the #37 team, with RJ Racing partnering up with Front Row Motorsports in 2007.(2-4-2007)
UPDATE 2: Front Row Motorsports (FRM) announced today they will run two (2) cars during the 2007 Nextel Cup season. FRM will run the #34 driven by Kevin Lepage with Randy Seals as the crew chief. For the second FRM entry, team owner Bob Jenkins has formed a partnership with John Carter. The team will convert the #61 from 2006 to the #37 for the 2007 season. The team has hired Bill Elliott to run a limited number of events, with Chad Chaffin slated to compete in the remainder of the schedule. Mark Tutor will serve has crew chief for the team. NASCAR veteran Gere Kennon will be Director of Competition and oversee the efforts of both teams. Both teams will run Dodge Chargers powered by motors built by Ernie Elliott Inc. "Given the increased level of competition this season, I could not be happier with the group of experienced professionals we have assembled," stated Jenkins. "I am excited about our driver line-up, and with the opportunity to partner with someone like John. In addition, our affiliation with Dodge has already paid dividends in testing and with car preparation. Obviously to compete at this level, sponsorship is essential to having a successful team. We currently have several associate sponsorships in place. However, we are continuing to pursue full-time primary sponsors for both teams. Our approach has always been to build a strong foundation so that a potential sponsor would see themselves as the only missing component to our success." - Front Row Motorsports to run #34 team in 2007: Kevin Lepage, who recently tested the #92 Front Row Motorsports Dodge ar Daytona, will in all likelyhood, tun the #34 Dodge for the team with Ernie Elliot Engines. Gere Kennon is the Director of Competition & Randy Seals the crew chief. No word if the team will run the #61 or #92 teams it ran in 2006 along with the #34. The team also has a job opening, see my Racing Schools/Jobs page for more info.(1-20-2007)
- #92 Done? #92 Crew Chief Teddy Brown informed us [Front Row Motorsports Fanz] that they will stop running the #92 car, just to focus on two cars. The #92 team only made one of nine races [attempted 8 of 9]. The engine costs for that team so far are around $300k. With Jeff Stec's #61 team now with Front Row Motorsports, they will concentrate on getting both #61-Kevin Lepage and #34-Chad Chaffin's cars ready for Richmond.(Front Row Motorsports Fanz)(5-6-2006)
- #61 Team Sold? UPDATE: hearing that #61 team owner, Jeff Stec has sold the #61 Peak Fitness Motorsports team that Kevin Lepage drivers for the Furniture Row Motorsports, the team that #78-Kenny Wallace drives for. Unclear if it will become a two-car team or merged into the current one car operation. The #61 runs Fords while the #78 runs Chevy's.
UPDATE: looks like my sources were a little confused as to what team, it is Front Row Motorsports [not Furniture Row Motorsports].......Front Row Motor Sports owner Bob Jenkins, and Jeff Stec have formed a limited partnership to campaign the #61 Ford Fusion for the remainder of the 2006 NASCAR season. Greg Conner and the balance of the #61 team members will be integrated into the Front Row Motorsports organization beginning this week with the running of the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega. Kevin Lepage will continue to drive the #61 car. “The #61 team has gotten off to a good start this year by making 6 of the first 8 races. By combining resources and sharing knowledge, we are confident that we can improve each of our teams,” states Front Row Motorsports owner Bob Jenkins. “We are looking to upgrade both our qualifying and race day efforts. We are excited about the opportunities this presents our team and the advantages we can gain by working together.”(Front Row Motorsports PR)(4-27-2006)

- #92 to Dodge?...as reported Chaffin returns: Chad Chaffin, who landed a part-time job in the Nextel Cup Series in 2005 with #92 Front Row Motorsports of Denver, N.C., has hired Chaffin to run the full Nextel Cup schedule in 2006. Front Row has yet to land a sponsor, but owner Bob Jenkins said he is committed to running all 36 races without one if necessary. "We may not be in the top 20," Jenkins said of his fledgling race team, "but we plan to grow and progress." Jenkins owns two North Carolina companies, one that manufactures vinyl gloves, the other a food franchise. He chose Chaffin for the full-time job next season "because Chad's a good driver and he knows how to communicate with the pit crew. That's very important." The team raced Chevrolets this season and is debating going to Dodges next year. In addition to his full Cup schedule, Chaffin also will compete in the NASCAR Busch Series for Goodlettsville-based Wayne Day Enterprises. Chaffin was to start 43rd as will Hamilton Jr.
AND PPI Motorsports (PPIM) through a partnership with car owner Bob Jenkins will race the #32 Tide/Downy Chevrolet with driver Bobby Hamilton Jr. in today’s Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. “Bob and I forged a relationship at Talladega a few weeks ago,” said Wells. “And he was gracious enough to continue the partnership with PPIM at Atlanta. - Driver changes at Talladega: #00 - Bobby Hamilton Jr. replaced Mike Skinner; #34 - Mike Skinner replaced Hermie Sadler..Tide is going on the #00 and Aaron's going to the #34 for the UAW-Ford 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday.(NASCAR Stats Services)(10-1-2005)
AND the deal was with the #34 Front Row Racing team and #32 owner, Cal Wells, which failed to make the race with driver Bobby Hamilton Jr. So Wells made a deal with Chris Edwards, owner of the #34 Ford that Hermie Sadler qualified for the race. But since the #34 is a Ford this week [usually a Chevy], the Wells made a deal with Jenkins and Mike Skinner, moving Skinner to the #34 Ford and using the #00 car, which is really the #92 [owners points #192 Bob Jenkins the owner] and will run the #32 in the race with Tide as the sponsor. Running the race will NOT get the #32 team owner, Cal Wells, any owners points for the race, driver Bobby Hamilton Jr. will of course get drivers points since he will start the race in the car, but has to start in the rear of the field due to the drivers change. Sadler was supposedly compensated for letting the switch happen as well as the owners of the #34 and #192 [#00]. The #00/92 was an odd deal already, as a deal between Jenkins and #00 [#100] team owner Michael Waltrip to run Skinner and Aaron's along with the #00, similar to the deal between Waltrip and Bill Davis Racing to run the #00 Dodge with Aaron's and Kenny Wallace a few weeks ago.(10-2-2005)
- #00 Team Note; been told the #00 is the #192, being allowed to use the #00 number with Mike Skinner driving and the #192 Front Row racing team getting the owners points and the credit for the race attempt at Talladega Superspeedway, allowing them to keep the full season race attempts streak alive. #192 [#92] has run many drivers in 2005, Stanton Barrett, Tony Raines, Hermie Sadler, Eric McClure among others.(9-30-2005)

The Heart of Virginia Council serves more than 22,000 youth and 7,000 volunteers who deliver scouting programs in central Virginia.(Richmond Times Dispatch)(9-10-2005)
- VA Governor Candidate to sponsor #92 team at Martinsville: Going after the NASCAR vote, Republican gubernatorial candidate Jerry W. Kilgore will sponsor a car in the Oct. 23 Nextel Cup Subway 500 at Martinsvillle Speedway. NASCAR driver Hermie Sadler of Emporia will drive the #92 Kilgore for Governor Chevy. The Democratic candidate, Timothy M. Kaine, also is chasing the NASCAR fans. He is holding a fundraiser in the infield before the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway tomorrow. He also will attend the race. The Kilgore campaign will pay almost $100,000 to sponsor the car, campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh said yesterday. Kilgore announced the sponsorship yesterday at RIR. A sponsorship costs about $200,000. Sadler has contributed part of the fee as an in-kind campaign contribution, Murtaugh said. Kilgore said he and Sadler have been acquaintances for about seven years, after meeting at the fiddler's convention in Galax. In addition to driving the race car, Sadler will make several appearances with it. He will wear a Kilgore for Governor driving suit during the Martinsville race and members of his pit crew also will wear Kilgore-touting apparel. Democratic Gov. Mark R. Warner sponsored a racing truck when he ran four years ago.(Richmond Times Dispatch)(9-9-2005)

Miller, who last competed in a NASCAR race in 2003 here, will drive the #92 Chevy fielded by Front Row Motorsports [Hermie Sadler and Tony Raines usually drive the car]. Miller, who received an engineering degree from the University of Tennessee, was tapped by the team in large part for both his driving skill and engineering prowess. In fact, Miller is doubling up this weekend, also competing in a Rolex GT Class Chevrolet Corvette for ASC Motorsports in Friday evening’s Grand-Am race. “I’m beyond excited to be back in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series,” said Miller, who made his Nextel Cup debut in 2003 at Infineon Raceway with Morgan-McClure Motorsports finishing 24th on the lead lap. “I’m privileged that (team owner) Bob Jenkins gave me the call when he was looking for a road-course specialist. We are entering this weekend from square one—Front Row motorsports is a great team with a competitive car, but with no testing time under our belt we’ll have get up to speed quickly. It’s going to be a busy weekend driving in two different races,” added Miller, “but that is my typical race weekend—I try to drive as many race cars as possible. I love racing, and I enjoy learning as much as I can to get to the front of the pack.” Johnny Miller, from Johnson City, Tenn., was one of NASCAR’s “hired guns,” competing in two NASCAR Nextel Cup races for Morgan-McClure Motorsports in 2003.(Miller Racing site)(8-10-2005)

- Hermie back at Pocono..then to TV: It didn't take long for Hermie Sadler long to find a new ride, albeit a temporary one. Four days after resigning from the #66 Ford, Sadler was in the #92 Chevrolet at Pocono filling in for Stanton Barrett, who is running tonight's Busch race at Nashville Superspeedway. It's a one-race deal for Sadler. "I had planned on taking a couple weeks off just to regroup and get my thoughts together," Sadler said. "But they're in the same boat we've been in, working hard every week, trying to make it happen. I was glad to help them out. I came here with the attitude to come have a good time and see what happens."
