  • Kennseth’s Engine too Big UPDATE no, it’s legal: Matt Kenseth won the BGN rave at Lowes Motor Speedway. Or at least it seemed as if Kenseth had won the race. After a post-race inspection, officials revealed that the cubic inch displacement in Kenseth’s engine was outside the NASCAR requirements. No decision on Kenseth’s apparent victory was made, however, until new measurements could be taken this morning after the engine had cooled. Race officials also called in second-place Mark Martin’s car for inspection, but no determination was made on its status.     UPDATE: Routine post-race inspection of winner Matt Kenseth’s engine uncovered what NASCAR officials described as ‘irregularities’ in several of the measurements taken on Saturday, but the confiscated engine was taken to an impound area to cool down and when the same measurements were taken Sunday morning, the engine was found to meet rulebook tolerances(SpeedVision)(10-8-2000)
