On the final lap, #54-Ty Gibbs moved #18-John Hunter Nemechek out of the way to win the ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond Raceway. It’s Gibbs’ third win in seven races to start off the 2022 season.
Nemechek, who led a race-high 135 laps, finished second, and wasn’t happy following the race. #1-Sam Mayer finished third, winning an additional $100,000 through the Dash 4 Cash program. #16-AJ Allmendinger and #98-Riley Herbst made up the rest of the top five.
#11-Daniel Hemric placed sixth, as #8-Josh Berry, #68-Brandon Brown, #39-Ryan Sieg and #38-Parker Retzlff completed the top 10.
Nemechek won the opening stage, while Gibbs was able to scoot by late in the second stage to score his first stage victory of the season.
There were eight lead changes among three drivers and three cautions for 24 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was 95.299 mph.
