John Hunter Nemechek cashes in on dominating Martinsville performance: John Hunter Nemechek led a dominating 198 of 250 laps to win Saturday night’s Call811.com Before You Dig 250 – besting his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Sammy Smith by 1.518-seconds to earn his second NASCAR Xfinity Series victory of the 2023 season and first win in his first series-start at Martinsville (Va.) In dominating fashion, #20-John Hunter Nemechek led 198 of 250 laps en route to the victory in the Xfinity Series race at Martinsville Speedway. It’s his second win of the season, and he took over the regular season championship lead by sweeping all three stages.
#18-Sammy Smith made a move on the final lap to finish second. #00-Cole Custer earned his best finish of the season in third, as #8-Josh Berry and #9-Brandon Jones rounded out the top five.
#7-Justin Allgaier placed sixth, with #11-Daniel Hemric, #10-Derek Kraus, #25-Brett Moffitt and #16-Chandler Smith completing the top 10.
#20-Nemechek won both stages, moving his total to three stage wins through the first eight races.
There were seven lead changes among six drivers and 10 cautions for 82 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was 59.398 mph.
