Taking the lead on a late restart, #28-Aric Almirola won the inaugural Xfinity Series Season race at Sonoma Raceway. The victory is his fourth in the series and first since 2017 at Talladega. The win is also the first in RSS Racing team history.
#10-AJ Allmendinger held off #17-Kyle Larson for second, as Larson slipped to third. Larson led a race-high 53 laps and won both stages but hit a tire bundle in Turn 11 while chasing down Almirola and lost control of his car. #19-Ty Gibbs placed fourth, with #48-Parker Kligerman being the first series regular in fifth.
#00-Cole Custer rebounded from a 26th-place starting position to finish sixth. #7-Justin Allgaier, #21-Austin Hill, #18-Sammy Smith and #1-Sam Mayer made up the top 10.
There were 10 lead changes among six drivers and two cautions for eight yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was 76.388 mph.
