In thrilling fashion, #16-AJ Allmendinger won Friday’s Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway. On an overtime restart, Allmendinger chose the inside of the front row, underneath #22-Austin Cindric. Battling for the regular season championship, the two drivers tangled coming to the finish line, where Allmendinger edged ahead of Cindric for the win and regular season championship.
#98-Riley Herbst earned his best finish of the season in third. #7-Justin Allgaier led a race-high 92 laps but settled for third, while #19-Brandon Jones rounded out the top five.
#11-Justin Haley placed sixth, with #20-Harrison Burton, #2-Myatt Snider, #8-Sam Mayer and #18-Daniel Hemric rounding out the top 10.
Allgaier won the opening stage, while Hemric earned a playoff point for winning the second stage.
There were 11 leaders among seven drivers and 10 cautions for 72 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was: 75.026 mph.
