LEGACY MOTOR CLUB announced today at Kansas Speedway that Erik Jones will continue to drive the No. 43 Toyota Camry XSE in the NASCAR Cup Series for 2027 and beyond in a multi-year extension. His long-term presence within LEGACY is central to the organization’s continued progression in the series.
Heading into his 11th season in the NASCAR Cup Series, Jones joined the No. 43 team in 2021 under the Richard Petty Motorsports banner and has been on a steady progression ever since, building on the number’s storied history while elevating both himself and the team around him. Among the highlights of his tenure with the car was his second Southern 500 victory in 2022 — a win in the same number made famous by Richard Petty himself. Since taking over the No. 43, Jones has recorded one win, 10 top-fives, and 37 top-10s with the car.
“I’m excited to continue to be a part of what LEGACY MOTOR CLUB is building,” said Erik Jones. “I took over the No. 43 in 2021, and it’s become a big part of my career. Through every change, we continue to get better and I’m happy to be a part of that. Especially this season, I feel like we’ve hit on something and been consistent. I’m thankful to get the chance to continue building on that in the years to come.”
Jones’ NASCAR career began in a Kyle Busch Motorsports truck in 2013, and he has found success at every level of the sport. He earned seven wins in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, nine in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, and three in the Cup Series. Jones claimed the 2015 Craftsman Truck Series championship at Kyle Busch Motorsports and is one of only three drivers to earn Rookie of the Year honors in all three of NASCAR’s top series.
Jones has been one of the most consistent performers at LEGACY MOTOR CLUB in 2026. He earned a third-place finish in the Southern 500 in 2025 and a runner-up finish at his hometown track of Michigan International Speedway in June. Working his way up from 28th in points prior to the March race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway all the way to 14th by the time he left the San Diego Street Course on June 21 — Jones’ steady climb through the standings is emblematic of the organization’s broader journey toward elite performance. He also recorded his first Stage win of the season on May 3 at Texas Motor Speedway.

As LEGACY MOTOR CLUB moves into a new era for the 2027 season, the team welcomes Josh Berry as the driver of the No. 42 Toyota Camry XSE and Riley Herbst as the driver of the No. 84 Toyota Camry XSE. As the most tenured driver on the roster, Jones brings a wealth of Cup Series experience and institutional knowledge that will be invaluable as LEGACY welcomes new faces into the fold. He is the anchor around which this next chapter is being built.
