Ryan Truex competing for Sam Hunt Racing at Dover

Sam Hunt Racing (SHR) announces today that the reigning Monster Mile champion Ryan Truex will pilot the No. 24 GR Supra in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) at Dover Motor Speedway in partnership with the New Jersey State Police. Truex, a Mayetta, New Jersey native, has won the last two NXS races at Dover Motor Speedway and eyes another trip to Victory Lane at his home track.

“We are honored to join forces with Sam Hunt Racing and the New Jersey State Police in what promises to be an exciting day of racing,” said Colonel Patrick J. Callahan, Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police. “We aim to raise awareness and recruit individuals who are prepared to answer, ‘A Call to Service’ and become part of the New Jersey State Police.”

Truex scored his first NXS win at Dover Motor Speedway in April 2023, and he successfully tamed the Monster Mile again a year later to claim his second career win. Ryan Truex competed with Sam Hunt Racing at Daytona International Speedway in 2022, securing an 11th-place finish. He also competed at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the No. 26 GR Supra in 2024. As Dover’s most recent two-time NXS winner, he’s geared up to take the reins of an SHR GR Supra once again.

Sam Hunt Racing has been competing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series since its debut in 2019, and each season, the team’s performance has consistently strengthened. The No. 24 team has been comprised of several other drivers in addition to Truex behind the wheel of the No. 24 GR Supra this season. Brian Gainey leads the team as its crew chief. Gainey has seen considerable success at fellow Toyota organization Joe Gibbs Racing, most recently serving as the car chief on the No. 20 NASCAR Xfinity team, which won nine races, including two victories by Truex, and qualified to run for the owner’s championship in Phoenix last fall.

“It’s always fun to have Ryan behind the wheel at SHR. He brings so much experience, knowledge, and past success to the table, especially at Dover. He understands where SHR is as a team and wants to help everyone continue to improve,” said Sam Hunt. “We couldn’t be doing this without our partners at New Jersey State Police, and are all excited to get to work at the Monster Mile.”

Tune in on July 19th at 4:30 PM ET for the BetRivers 200 at Dover Motor Speedway on The CW Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90.
