Homestead expected to remain season finale in 2027

NASCAR intends to rotate its season finale with the return of The Chase, but it’s unlikely there will be a new championship venue next year.

The season finale returns to Homestead-Miami Speedway this season, and the 1.5-mile oval is expected to stay in that spot on the 2027 schedule despite a report Monday that the championship rotation would begin next year.

“The plan would be to have the season finale again at Homestead in 2027, and then we’ll see what the rotation looks like,” NASCAR managing director of communications Mike Forde said on the latest episode of the “Hauler Talk” podcast that was released Monday.

AND: The sport will start a final-race rotation this year with Homestead-Miami Speedway before moving into a new venue in 2027, and Kennedy said NASCAR is seeing interest from a host of cities and municipalities trying to land the championship event. NASCAR is mapping out a renovation to Talladega Superspeedway, in a previously unreported development, and it has announced plans to host its first military base race this year, at Naval Base Coronado near San Diego, to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.

NASCAR recently reorganized its venue and event divisions, with Kennedy saying that the ultimate aim is to continue schedule innovation, improve fan experience and use the race tracks on a more year-round basis with other events. Julie Giese, who formerly led the NASCAR Chicago Street Race, will continue to oversee the Chicago region for the series, but also all scheduling initiatives. She is already working on the 2027 schedule and “thinking about the future of the Clash and championship location and rotation,” according to Kennedy, who added that NASCAR is exploring “a couple of potential new venues” for ’27 and beyond, as well as “a handful of other projects.”
