Crew chief Ryan Pemberton left at end of 2008 season for Red Bull Racing(11-18-2008). Reutimann will move back to the #00 in 2009 and move the #44 owners points to the #00 team, the #00 team will become the #47 for Marcos Ambrose and get the #00 owners points. MWR will give the loaned #44 back to Petty Enterprises (10-17-2008). Reutimann is signed thru 2009 after MWR picks up the option.

No word on a 2010 sponsor or if Mears or the team will return in 2010 (9-21-2009). Childress swaps crew chiefs and entire crew of #07 team with #29 team, after Talladega in April (4-22-2009). Mears takes over this ride and is the 4th RCR driver. Clint Bowyer moves to the #33 RCR General Mills team. Childress said they would NOT move the #07 points to the #33(8-23-2008)

Bass Pro Shops will only sponsor a limited number of races, supposedly 23, so the team would need a sponsor for 15 races (1-12-2009). DEI and Ganassi Racing merged to form Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, with three teams: #1-Truex Jr., #8-Almirola and #42-Montoya, using Chevy’s. The #01, #15 or #40 teams will dissolve, the #15 owners points go to the #34 team and the #01 owners points go to the #33 of RCR (11-12-2008). Truex Jr. and DEI agree on one-year deal to stay at DEI (8-8-2008). Bass Pro Shops and crew chief Manion are signed thru 2010.

Sponsor AAA left after the 2008 season and will go to Penske Racing #77 for a few races. Roush needs to trim down to four teams from five AFTER the 2009 season.

Will run a Dodge for the Bud Shootout then run Toyota the rest of the season and Almquist returns as crew chief (1-19-2009). Moves from Dodge to Toyota in 2009 (12-16-2008). Stremme named to drive the car in 2009, Alltel styas for at least 2009 (9-3-2008). Brad Keselowski supposedly turned down this ride (8-24-2008). McMurray could end up here, supposedly he is out at Roush and the #26 ride. Newman’s contract is done after 2008 and in July, Penske and Newman agreed to part way and Newman will go to Stewart-Haas in the #39 Chevy. Alltel could be back for 2009 if the deal with Verizon takes longer to close, no word if Kodak will be back in 2009.

UPS goes to Roush Fenway Racing’s #6 in 2009 (9-12-2008). Tony Stewart was released from his Joe Gibbs Racing contract after 2008 on July 9, 2008 and will run the #14 with Office Depot [60%] and Old Spice [40%] as co-primary sponsors. Stewart will run #14 in honor of his hero, AJ Foyt. The 2nd team will run the #39, with Ryan Newman as the driver (8-14-2008). The the #14 will be the old #70 team and the #4 will be the #66. Stewart would have the use of the past champions provisional to use for the first five races. The team will be called Stewart Haas Racing. Stewart says the team will not expand to three in 2009. The team will get cars and engines from Hendrick Motorsports.(7-25-2008)

Roush needs to trim down to four teams from five AFTER the 2009 season.

Sadler and GEM solved their differences and Sadler will be back in the car for 2009, Allmendinger heads to the #44, possibly part-time. GEM officially merges with Petty Enterprises (1-9-2009). Sources have Allmendinger replacing Salder in the car, even thou Sadler was signed thru 2010, one of the sponsors could be leaving if so (12-27-2008). Crew chief Rodney Childers left and went to the #00 MWR team (12-2-2008). Sadler signed thru 2010.

Stewart released from his JGR contract and will leave after the 2008 season to buy into Haas CNC Racing and form Stewart Haas Racing and drive the #14 Office Depot/Old Spice Chevy.

Caterpillar moves over after a long-time sponsorship of the #22 Bill Davis Racing team. RCR adds a 4th team in 2009. Prilosec scheme at Richmond in May and Lenox at New Hampshire in June

BB&T will be the primary sponsor for 11 races (11-12-2008). Wilson named crew chief for 2009, Gil Martin will stay with the #07 and Mears. Childress has said, they did NOT transfer #07 owners points to the #33 (10-21-2008). Bowyer moved over from RCR’s #07 with Mears going to the #07, Bowyer re-signed with RCR for another three years thru 2011 (8-23-2008). The team moved up to full time in 2009 with General Mills/Cheerios as the sponsor.

Andretti will run in 34 races, missing Darlington and Charlotte in May to run the Daytona 500 in Richard Pettys Indy car, with Raines running at Darlington and the Coca Cola 600 at LMS (4-15-2009). Lane named full-time crew chief after Bristol and Lane named full time crew chief. EGR furished engines at Daytona and Atlanta, Pro Motors for the other races (3-24-2009). The team keeps the owners points for the first five races and looks like it will stay a Chevy. Andretti will run the 4th EGR car, using the #34 in an alliance between EGR and Front Row Motorsports. Getting owners points from one of the merged DEI/Ganassi teams [#01, #15, #41] and having Window World for a sponsor at the Daytona 500. Lane will be the crew chief for Daytona, but unsure how the alliance will work out after Daytona (1-30-2009).

Gary Bechtel is no longer involved as a co-owner (6-30-2009), Scott Riggs and the team part ways after Charlotte with Skinner in for all but five conflicting race with the truck series and the road course, Simo will run the road courses, Carpentier is scheduled to run both Pocono’s, New Hampshire in June, Richmond and Dover in Sept (5-25-2009). Nexxus Lighting was the sponsor at Bristol in March. Gary Bechtel comes aboard as co-owner after Atlanta (3-19-2009). Nexxus Lighting to sponsor at Bristol in March (3-18-2009). Red Bank Ale & Quail Outfitters to be primary sponsor at Dayrtona 500, Calif and Vegas (2-12-2009). Palermo’s Pizza to be sponsor at Chicago (7-7-2009). Riggs named to drive the car for the 2009 season (1-19-2009). Baldwin announced the formation of a new Sprint Cup Series race team under the existing Tommy Baldwin Racing banner. The team will run Toyota’s, plans to compete full-time and get engines from Arrington Manufacturing (1-6-2009)

39 [was 66]	Crew Chief Tony Gibson came over from DEI #8 (11-14-2008). U.S. Army will be a co-primary sponsor in 2009 and be the full sponsor for 22 races plus the All Star race, the Army supposedly signed a 3-year deal with Stewart-Haas Racing (10-9-2008). It was announced on Tony Stewart Live radio show that Newman would use the #39 NOT the #4 (8-19-2008). Newman was announced as the driver at Michigan on August 14th, no word how long the contract is for but it is a multi-year agreement (8-14-2008). The team will be called Stewart Haas Racing. Stewart says the team will not expand to three cars in 2009. The team will get cars and engines from Hendrick Motorsports.(7-25-2008)

The #01, #15 or #40 teams will no longer exist and the owners points go away (11-12-2008). Texaco/Havoline left at the end of 2008 (8-20-2008).

Gillett says the team has sponsors for most of the full slate of 2009 races (1-9-2009). Bobby Labonte and Petty part ways after 2008 season (12-11-2008). Crew Chief Jeff Meendering will leave after 2008 and head to Stewart-Hass in 2009 as a car chief (11-10-2008). Boston Ventures bought into PE and becomes a partner in June 2008. General Mills/Cheerios left at end of 2008 and headed to 4th RCR #33 car.

The car number will change from #10 to #44, with Allmendinger running at least the first five races of 2009 and at least 7 total, more if a sponsor is found, Gillett Evernham Motorsports changes name to Richard Petty Motorsports (1-19-2009). Sammy Johns takes over as the crew chiewf (team director), Mike Shiplett moves to the #43 car (1-13-2009). GEM & Petty Enterprises official merge. Sadler stays in the #19, Reed Sorenson goes to the #43. Allmendinger is scheduled to run this car part time unless a full sponsor is found, then it could be full-time (1-9-2009).

Rumor has GEM buying Bill Davis Racing and switching from Dodge to Toyota (10-21-2008). U.S. Army was rumored, but went to the #39 Stewart Haas Racing team. Caterpillar leaves to go to the #31 RCR team and Jeff Burton in 2009. No word on a new sponsor or if Blaney will return. BDR could also merge with Red Bull Racing

38	The #38 owners points go to the #96 team with Bobby Labonte, crew chief Todd Parrott also goes over. Looks like this team will not run in 2009 and Gilliland needs a ride (1-19-2009). Crew Chief Cully Barraclough left at end of the season, he goes back to Roush, as a car chief on the #26 (12-9-2008). Looks like Kvapil will return to the #28 and Gilliland to the #38, no word on sponsors for those teams yet (10-18-2008). Menard will DEI and come to Yates, could be in the #38 or #28 or as a third team (10-6-2008). Gilliland is supposedly signed to stay thru 2009, no word on sponsorship. With the Petty and GEM merger, this team will go away and no longer run. No word on Kyle Petty’s or Chad McCumbee’s 2009 plans. Crew chief Stewart Cooper is no longer with the team. Looks like Kyle Petty is not in Petty Enterprises plans for 2009 unless it is a part time deal, but Petty seems pretty bitter about the situation. Supposedly sponsor Wells Fargo could stay with Petty and move to DEI or another team in a part time ride. PE has been rumored to numerous mergers, DEI, Ganassi, BDR, but nothing has been secured (10-23-2008)
