Stewart Friesen locks into Championship 4 with victory at ISM Raceway: Stewart Friesen thought he had led the first lap of Friday night’s Lucas Oil 150 at ISM Raceway in Phoenix. He was wrong. After suffering a penalty for jumping the start of the race, however, Friesen rallied to lead the lap that counted most—the last one— and secured a spot in next weekend’s Championship 4 race with the second NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series victory of the season and his career.(More)(11-8-2019)
#52-Stewart Friesen was black flagged at the start of the race for jumping the start, but fought his way back and won the Lucas Oil 150 NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series race at ISM Raceway. It was his second race win of 2019 and second of his career.
Runner-up #51-Brandon Jones also battled his way back. He spun on lap 3 but rebounded and fell short of a challenge on Friesen in the closing laps. #46-Chandler Smith, #99-Ben Rhodes #98-Grant Enfinger, #88-Matt Crafton, #18-Harrison Burton, #13-Johnny Sauter, #45-Ross Chastain, and #24-Brett Moffitt were the top-10.
Moffitt clinched his spot in the championship Round of 4 following stage 2. Friesen secured his position with the win, and Chastain and Crafton grabbed the final two playoff spots. Crafton and pole-sitter, #16-Austin Hill, were within just a few markers of each other throughout the race. Crafton gained valuable stage points during the opening stages before grabbing his sixth place finish over Hill’s 13th place effort. #17-Tyler Ankrum had issues and was eliminated early for the title race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He finished 26th, 6 laps down.
Stages 1 was won by #99-Rhodes. Stage 2 was won by #51-Jones.
There were 9 lead changes among 7 drivers and 5 cautions for 30 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was: 97.35mph.
