Layne Riggs captures first Truck Series win at Milwaukee Mile: For the second-straight day, a second-generation rising NASCAR racing star earned his first-career win. This time it was 22-year-old Layne Riggs claiming the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series victory in Sunday’s Playoff-opening LiUNAI 175! at the historic Milwaukee Mile.Riggs, son of former NASCAR competitor Scott Riggs, took the lead from Ty Majeski with 53 laps remaining and pulled away to a solid 1.547-second victory over the Wisconsin native and a super-motivated group of Playoff drivers, making the rookie driver’s effort all the more impressive.(Read More)(8-25-2024)
#38-Layne Riggs won the LIUNA 175 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race at Milwaukee Mile on Sunday, the first of his career.
Just laps after a restart, on lap 123 of the 175, Riggs took the lead from pole-sitter #98-Ty Majeski.
After leading 45 laps throughout, Majeski finished second.
#19-Christian Eckes led the most laps of the day with 71 out front. He finished third.
#2-Nick Sanchez and #17-Taylor Gray closed out the top-five.
#18-Tyler Ankrum, #11-Corey Heim, #43-Daniel Dye, #99-Ben Rhodes and #88-Matt Crafton were the remainder of the top-10.
Riggs played the spoiler on the opening race of the playoffs. Eight of the 10 playoff drivers finished within the top-10. The remaining playoff contenders, #9-Grant Enfinger and #71-Rajah Caruth, finished 13th and 18th respectively.
#25-Ty Dillon won the opening stage. #19-Eckes won stage two.
There were five lead changes among four drivers and two cautions for – yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was: 97.537 mph.
