Jeff Gordon crashed his primary car during Saturday morning practice, he was on pit road trying to get the tires up to temp and skidded into the parked #43. Both Gordon and Hamilton must go to backup cars as both cars were too damaged to get fixed in time. Jimmy Spencer, debuting his 1998 colors, crashed his No. 23 Team Winston Ford in morning practice as well. Spencer was also forced to a backup car(not sure if it is a Winston or Camel car). Geoff Bodine was fastest in Sat morning practice at 196.255mph and ran a qual lap of 197.478mph(ESPN2 Qual)(11-15-97)
