Washington-Erving update

The Stihl 300, whenever it is run, will mark the second Busch race of the season for Jimmy Foster, driver of the #50 Dr. Pepper Ford owned by Joe Washington and Julius Erving. The team had planned to compete with a Winston Cup car, but the sponsorship never came together. They have enough of a challenge on their hands with the Grand National series, having missed the season’s first two races at Daytona and Rockingham. Foster ran at Las Vegas, but was involved in a crash and finished 41st. General Manager Jimmy Martin said Washington-Erving still plans to run some Winston Cup races this year.(News and Record Online)(3-8-98)
