Hut Stricklin still looking for crew chief

Hut Stricklin said the hunt for a permanent crew chief is going slower than he expected, largely because his team — owned by the Stavola brothers and sponsored by Richmond, Va.-based Circuit City — isn’t willing to go the quick-fix route. Stricklin said he approached noted crew chief Gary DeHart about the opening last weekend at Las Vegas but added that the man who led Terry Labonte to the 1996 Winston Cup championship no longer has interest in being a crew chief or a team manager. DeHart, who recently left the team of Busch driver Lyndon Amick, apparently wants to start his own racing-related business.(Skip Wood – Times-Dispatch)(3-10-98)
