Nissan British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) star Anthony Reid could be facing the green flag at the start of a NASCAR Winston Cup round this August. Plans are afoot to enter the 38-year-old Scot for the Watkins Glen road course race in New York State on August 9, in between the BTCC rounds at Thruxton and Knockhill. The owner of the unidentified team planning to run Reid in a Ford Thunderbird – possibly rebodied as a Taurus – is said to be a friend of Alec Poole, the touring car boss of Nissan Motorsports Europe, who recently attended a Winston Cup encounter at Rockingham.(AutoSportMag)(3-26-98)
