Darrell Waltrip, a three-time Winston Cup champion, will be named Friday as the interim driver of the #1 Chevrolet owned by Dale Earnhardt Inc. Waltrip will drive the car in this weekend’s Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway and will stay in it until the injured Steve Park returns. Waltrip’s sale of his Winston Cup team, NASCAR truck series team and facilities in Harrisburg to Tim Beverley, a businessman from Tyler, Texas, was completed Wednesday. Beverley intends to put the Winston Cup team on hiatus for about 10 weeks while he seeks sponsorship and reorganizes the operation.
