I hear that any BGN provisional restrictions normally placed on the top 35 in the Winston Cup drivers’ standings would not apply to Randy Lajoie. Supposedly NASCAR has decided that LaJoie helping an injured driver is for the benefit of the sport and, if it ever comes to that, would declare that the rule does not apply to Lajoie in this situation. But from what I hear LaJoie will be able to use the Champ Prov anyhow.(4-29-98)
